Let us remember though, the original treaty of versailles crippled Germany beyond all repair inevitably causing the rise of a militant right wing, leading to the Third Reich and ultimately world war 2.

Will this treaty have the same type of consequences? Find out next week, same bat-time, same bat-channel.

The original treaty of Versailles was actually before that, which was when Prussia(The leading German Empire that made Germany a united State) took over Paris, the treaty ending the war was signed at Versailles which is why France wanted the treaty ending WWI signed there for it was like they were getting back at Germany for that war.

Well technically it wasn't really a treaty signing but the crowning of the emperor but I like your interest in history. Versailles is one of the symbols of how diplomacy and post war atermaths can be messed up. I think it's a good idea to use it as a jumping point for this sim considering the French name of the ship, the position Starfleet takes that mirrors that of the United States and Britain as well as the belief that this treaty will end hostilities forever. Because of the last treaty signed there, it has a feeling of trepidation like I hinted at, of history actually repeating itself instead.

sort of dissapointsing that its at 10 in the middle of the schoo/work week meaning i cant join but nevertheless looks exciting

just somthing funny: of you google uss agincourt you get like or 5 different sims

try googling "USS Excalibur." There's an entire book series on the ship, by my favourite, Peter David.

as for the sim, I was a bit wary when I first heard about it. I always felt that STSF tried to keep their sims as cannon as possible, but after I remembered the NX, Klingons, Romulans, and station, I figured I'm an idiot for thinking that. :P So, as long as the GMs can bring a good simming experience (although I don't belive I'm familiar with either of them), I'll try not to complain to much.

I still think that a "Mirror Universe" sim would be interesting, but I'm not sure if anyone would wan't to do that. Oh well, guess I'll have to wait until Tovan, Van Roy, or Tachyon becomes a GM.

Now, that brings up another debate, the nature of Hitler's ideology. Yes, he was anti-Communist, but the NAZI party was the National SOCIALIST Party. Plus he was a ruthless, authoritarian dictator, and that pushes off the thought of Right-Wing, because right-wingers want less government control, etc. I should know, I'm one of them :P

But that's another debate.

But yeah, interesting historical connections.

Ooh, you were close mentioning the Welsh but it's not what you might be hinting at! Nope the origin of the two fingered salute is something much more historical and it definitely relates to Agincourt.

All right I got bored so I'll tell ya, the two fingered salute originated during Britain's wars with France. A British longbowman was a valuable soldier, it took years of training to perfect their skills. Whenever one was captured by the French they would cut off his middle and pointer fingers. Without these fingers the bowman was useless, he couldn't pull back the string on a bow ever again. The two finger salute was a way of proudly and cheekily saying "Hey! I still have my two fingers! You haven't got me!".

Now it's basically the British way of flipping the bird. :P

*closes the tome of knowledge with a thump*

Awesome. Thanks for the info. :D

It's not a bad bridge, but it looks too bright to me.

Looks like Harper will have to sit on Davie's lap considering they didn't install an XO chair.

He's a marine he can just stand there at attention :D

I think Harper is a she, and then maybe Davies might not mind that arrangement :P

Yes harper is a she, but i'm not going to comment on the other part. Maybe the Xo will have an office, or maybe she will sit next to the helm at ops station. I'm sure she would manage one of the three bridges during combat. I can't remember where i saw pics of the other two.

A truly "digital" explanation. :P I never knew the French were so cunning. Joan of Arc would be ashamed. :D

I am impressed by your knowledge though. It was my English teacher who told me about that back when I was doing my GCSE's
