The Name Game

Hi all :P How did everyone come up with their on-line name?

I'll start.

I like westerns - my name comes from a 1948 film called "Riders of the Range". One of the characters was named "Kansas Jones" and it just hit me right there - Thats it! Thats my name!

The next night I went into a multiplayer game for the first time and popped in with "Kansas Jones". :P

- Kansas

Yes, always fun to hear the origins of names. However, if you've already told us, you don't need to say it again. Here is a link to another thread that asked the same question and got some replies (but not everyone, eh?) Thanks.

I have no idea how I came up with Vex Xiang.

It was originally a name of a character I wrote in a Trek show script, but the name was Ervin Xiang. I eventually changed it to Vex Xiang.

Usually when I want to come up with character names I just start typing and recombine the jumble to make sense. Example:

uiheraukfhjklghujrht

Herak Flurt.

Images is a word that can be made with the first letter of each of my family members. Victor and Adrian? Heck they sounded good at the time.

Well, I wanted a name that was kinda weird but still believable. And at the time I started simming, the elections were around the corner. So I took some humorous political satire that my dad wrote and took the names of two of the characters: Wimbley, the Hippocrat party's veep candidate; and Murray, who "has a Taipei personality" and once locked himself into the dairy and pastry walk-in refridgerator in a hotel. The middle name is at this time still undecided. The initial is "X".

Err... Avani is apparently the first name. It comes from a Slovenian book Alamut(read it! read it! read it! NOW! ). It's an arab name, actually, but I like it. A lot.

And, uh, Jorel... That just sounds like a regular trek last name with an r in it.

Elaine Delgado... Elaine was going to be my middle name, and Delgado was the last name of someone who wrote an article in Popular Science the same month I was creating my name.

Willow McDaniel... Willo Davis Roberts (or something like that) was a favorite author when I was younger and McDaniel is my great-grandmother's maiden name.

JesusTrekkie... dude I like oxymorons...

Well, as Grom will readily point out in acadamy rosters by calling me "SemaJ, SemaJ Bond" - Sema'J is simply James backwards (ooh no, they know my RL middle name now....i'm paranoid of identity theft) Anyway...when i came up with Sema'J it sounded African to me, don't know why...so i looked up a real African middle name, Kwende, which translates to "Let's Go" (helm officer, get it?). As for Sam, just pulled it out of no where. So there ya go.

I don't think I replied on the old thread. "Huff" was originally someone else's NPC that I started to play. "Helen" added nice alliteration. "Hard" for the Horta was more alliteration. My Qob character name was of course a late night joke. We won't talk about the Romulan characters. Other names have been stolen from cheesy literature (again with alliteration) or obscure historical references to my RL career.
