any idea if there still is a mailing list, and if so, does it work?

Sounds like a question for Mr. Calvert. Admiral?

You think that thats really them??

Hey there,

I actually remember the internal discussions about that image. Most are not appropriate for public display, but I will say this: We, the GMs, do not get dressed in business attire to run a sim.

I think Randy can comment more than I, my memory of this period isn't exactly the best, but I believe the version your looking at was actually the second draft of the website and the first operational copy. The first draft...well...it actually did appear online as a website some time after STSF was operating, just not as an STSF website.

As for the mailing list, I don't think it actually was ever operational...was it?

Boy, I sure had wished someone had let me know that secret way back at the begining of STSF. I was hitting on Lo'Ami for like a month, untill someone told me...

I felt dirty inside.

It's always fun to go back and look at things done in the past.

Yes, that was STSF's very first official website design. I had done about 5 total concept designs before that was settled upon. One of the designs ended up used elsewhere, the rest of them never was seen publically beyond a few people on the GM Council.

I have done more than 40 different mockups for STSF's website template over the years. Most of them end up just being saved somewhere on a hard drive and never see the light of day.

Regarding what real life stuff some of the GMs are involved with... I will never share real life personal info about someone without they're permission. But regarding what I'm involved with now... in real life I am a network administrator. I own my own website hosting, design, and consulting company.

I have been involved with STSF since it's inception. From creating and managing the website to working with the other founding members on promotion and growing the group. I have run a few events in the past, but do not currently host an activity. Real life keeps me quite busy for right now. But I do frequent the chat rooms under various names. Many of you have chatted or simmed with me, but may not have known it.

And there are times I visit the room as a recognizeable name... it just depends.

At this point, no. The mailing list was removed since it never recieved a lot of positive feedback with it. Maintaining the software that ran it also was a major thorn in my side. There were security issues announced regarding it almost weekly, so when the site was redesigned... the mailing list was removed.

Instead announcements were posted on the message board and on the front page of our website.

So is that actually some of you in that picture?

No. It was a stock image. Trust me... ya DO NOT wanna see our mug shots plastered on the website. It's a quick way to chase everyone away.

No they get dressed in Star Trek uniforms

What're your rates? I'm running out of monthly bandwidth on mine, hehe.

Actually, this is not entirely true. During one academy sim, I had the Lo'Ami character slowly turn into a woman. It confused the heck out of anyone who wasn't paying attention.

PM me with your needs (space, bandwidth, etc). Doing business on the board here is bad form, and would be unprofessional on my part. LOL.

LoAmi got tired of being refered to as a woman so he took drastic measures.

I remember that one. I seem to recall that I was the one who started that one off, but I could be wrong.
