Enterprise Cancelled!

In 8th grade we called them "comic books" :P :P :D

N0 a Graphic Novel is not a Comic Book ;)

It's what is called Trade Paper Back ( ::curses John Anderson for filling his head with useless information:: )

Graphic Novels are much lengthier comic books...and the ones I have read...much more serious Cheack out Maus I & II sometime)

I dunno about maus, my ex loved it. I love the league of extraordinary gentlemen novels and the watchmen but I still feel that Alan Moore knows he's clever and gets incredbly arrogant in his writing. Lately I've been more interested in Frank Miller's Sin City books. There's a big movie of that in the works and you can watch the trailer at the apple quicktime trailer site.

Hey there,

You know, I'm beginning to think Rick Berman wanted Star Trek: Enterprise cancelled. Just read the following article SciFi Wire: Enterprise won't be shopped around.

I really think he wanted the show to end. You know what, sad thing is I can easily come up with a reason. Job security. If Season 4 and beyond was a success, it would easily show that Berman/Braga were the cause of the problems the first three seasons and a new face....such as Manny Coto....might have what it takes to move the franchise forward.

Actually <useless information> a trade paperback is anything that's bound in a heavier, more durable paper than the mass-market paperbacks are done in. They're sort of in between normal paperbacks and hardcover books. Graphic novels often wind up as trade paperbacks, but they don't have to be. And comics are sometimes made into TPBs as well, usually by story arc. And of course, regular prose novels can be TPBs. </useless information>

Graphic novels can be quite awesome. A friend of mine actually did one for her senior art project in college. A lot of work goes into those things!

i've only seen a bit of ENT and liked it (i have trouble hating things) Though i agree that Nemesis was filled with plot holes and issues...it had lots of good stuff to it. Not saying that put that good stuff together in the correct way to make a good MOVIE, but there was good bits and pieces. As for Ending ENT, usually when you end a show, the majority of the population is in agreement....but here i'm sure there are many more star trek fans who would like to see it continue....even if its just to avoid treklessness. You are right that all other treks have taken a while to get off the ground, why kill this one, and at such a crucial point!? I just watched the latest episode....it was riveting...things are falling into place, the federation is about to form, plot gaps are being sealed? are they crazy. It may not be the best thing on the little screen, but there is much worse (ever watch a snipet of andromeda?) So i think its just stupid. and i don't know much about the writers and producers (although i saw the musical "producers" live!) but it seems Manny has trekkie approval and B&B don't have anyone's. Enterprise is an awesome concept. if it was cool enough to inspire the NX-05....Anyway. I just hate seeing Trek dissapear from the screen. There's my 2 cents...for what its worth. :P

Thank you, Fred, for bringing this topic back around to itself. I know that we often have topics hijacked and carried far from their original path, but let's try and keep this one to the issue at hand. This isn't the place to talk about romance novels, book stores, Maus and other unrelated issues. Thanks.

OK as a proud member of Save Enterprise. I must say that ENT hasn't officially ended yet. The campaign has just stepped up a billion notches. Recently fans all over the world are stepping up and already sending in letters and showing there protest. All kinds of stuff is going on, emails, letters, faxes, interviews. I remember looking at st.com and seeing the ENT board filled with ENT bashers and posts about how ENT is really bad. Well recently things have changed and fan support is being showed more than ever.

I encourage everyone to join Save Enterprise campaign. Go to saveenterprise.com

And Btw, I reconized a few members from here registering over there. Show your support for ENT!

Sincerely Cougar, Member of Save Enterprise.

<--Glass Half-Empty

I Hate to be the one to pop the bubble of all the Save Ent'ers. But I doubt that Paramount is really going to listen to the masses. I don't think they would have cut the show if they didn't think it was an acceptable loss...IE they've already made up their minds.

But, if it floats your boat....e-mail them away. Heck I might just even send them an email or two. :P

At the beginning of the season I thought...eh...last season if you missed more than 1 or two episodes, you missed alot of the story behind later events...But I think it was working this season.

After watching last night's show, I don't know how the ratings were so poor. After reading the Startrek.com production report and knowing a little about what happened, I was still suprised by some of the things that happened. Shran's breakdown with the Tellarite's and the blood, the ship cloaking as Enterprise (although it was very predictable) and destroying the Rigelian ship, and when the Aenar crewman was revealed at the end of the show...I was puzzled when I saw what appeared to me as an andorian, and then I came back to ST.com and I saw "The Aenar" and I remembered. And then there was the preview for next week...

Of course when I went to the Episode Listing, there was the thing we all expected...

Written by: Andre Bormanis (Teleplay), Manny Coto (Story)

It seems like the greatest Enterprise episodes really have been the ones where Berman and Braga have no hands in the Writing...They're good at being producers (we must admit they did a pretty good job at casting and all the behind the scenes stuff in the beginning), but they've run out of ideas for compelling shows.

If the show is done right, they can win back many of the original TOS fans, and I think the only way to do that is to give over the control to fans like Manny Coto.

So...Let's finish watching this season...and push for three more.

Dr. Smith

Yeah, what he said.

And we have been told that there are a great number of fans out there who didn't even know there was the threat of cancellation. Many different organizations are coming together to keep Enterprise going.

Go to Save Enterprise and join the fight!

It was a letter-writing campaign that kept TOS running long enough for it to go into syndication. You like Trek now, thank a popular campaign. :P

I see you must have joined that site that is determined to kill Enterprise.

Btw, are you related to Les Moonves, he cancelled ENT and will try and kill Trek.

Look, I used to "dislike" enterprise, then from season 3 I started liking it, now mnay fans who didn't like ENT now like it due to season 4! Season 4 has been awesome! Perhaps you can change your mind?

Perhaps, I just never got into the TV thing. I more like to 'live' it. And after watching one episode, I decided that it wasn't worth watching. I will occasionally watch "First Contact" and "Generations", but that's just to help me with my simulator that I'm building in my house.

No, no I'm not with "Les Moonves". I don't even know him.

Anyone else here seeing the similarities btw ENT and TOS?

TOS was "only" on for three seasons, and then cancelled, because the (from what I understand) net work wanted to be done with the show. Prior to that, I believe after the first season, the Trek fan base launched a massive letter writing campaign to keep TOS on the air.

Basically what I am getting at is TOS had a pretty rough road staying on the air for three years, and I am sure it didnt help that it aired on a major network, unlike all of these post original Treks :P that have been in syndication. The ENT, in my mind, has been "picked on" a lot like the original was.

Here is my prediction - TOS made a HUGE comback in syndication and started this legacy. I really feel that ENT will be picked up by another network, Manny Coto will continue with the show, Berman will remain tied to the series, but due to managment changes will not have total control over the series' production any longer.

ENT has a vast potential, always did. And there are those of us that have enjoyed it from day one. It will continue for a bit longer because another network will recognize that potential, the loyal fan base, oh yes - and the money potential. :P
