Something to that extent. I always wonder about all the stuff we leave in space, won't it ###### someone off? Some alien ship is probably going to get his ash alover thier hull, and start and intergalatic war with us for it...

WAY TO GO GENE!!!!

As Fred stated, there hasn't been a time in my memory

when there hasn't been a Trek series on the air.

I like ENT. Sure they got off to a so-so start, but they are getting better.

I think this series should be given a chance to prove itself.

Now if you all will excuse me, I must cry  .

no, because in the 22nd century the ships have some feature that can disintagrate small pieces of rubbish that fly into them. (or they could just attach windshield wipers)

Actually, it is closer to windshield wipers. The deflector shields (generated by the deflector dish) push stellar particles out of the way so that they don't turn starships into Swiss cheese. If need be, holes can be opened in the deflector shields so that certain particles can be let through and collected is the Bussard ramscoop.

I will admit the last season's episodes have seen some improvement, although the Brent Spiner trilogy was a shameless grab at ratings (and didn't even work for that). However, it is fair to say that Enterprise has pissed off more regular Star Trek viewers than it has pleased. If Paramount ever hoped to regain their lost audience they couldn't just make it better, it would have to be A LOT better! With the dismal 3 years that came before, this season would have to be EPIC in proportion to have a shot at winning back the audience. I mean something like a season of episodes the caliber of Best of Both Worlds which would be awfully hard to sustain.

Then you have to consider Enterprise is now competing against Stargate-SG1, Stargate: Atlantis, and Battlestar Galactica on Friday nights as well as Friday night activities in general. Sure there are legitimate criticisms about the new Battlestar Galactica, and even a grass-roots effort led by Richard Hatch (the original Apollo) to derail it while the mini-series was in production, but even Hatch later admitted that SciFi was on to something and agreed to play a recurring character. It remains to be seen if they will be able to win over the die-hard original BG fans - and you're right, it was kind of a kid's series when you think about it - but at least it has the potential to do so.

In my opinion Enterprise is one of those failed ideas like Galactica 1980, Highlander II, and the XFL that are best left forgotten about. It had the potential to be a Frasier or a Laverne & Shirley or a Mario Brothers - something that could take an identity in it's own right - but it never quite got good enough soon enough.

Star Trek can have a future, even in this relatively saturated science fiction environment, but Enterprise has already burned too many bridges with the regular (though not fanatical) Star Trek viewers to be the mechanism to bring that future. For this reason I actually signed a petition to be sent to Paramount to *keep* it cancelled.

Dude, a bit of a downer but i get what you're saying. Basically I signed up for the first save enterprise bid but not this one. After one appeal, the show should have got it's act sorted out...it didn't.

I see you're point, but consider this. I wonder how many people watch TV the way I do...i barely ever do, but when i do, i find something good and just watch tv, and when its over i just stay around for the next good thing. So if i was watching SG-1 or any of that....and star trek came on...i would watch. I usually just sit down and see the TV guide and search for sci-fi in general, so i don't know if the other shows being on the same night would affect it drastically (besides they are not on at the same time, not for me at least)
