Computer - open personal log - begin recording:

 

    I have been assigned to the USS Manticore and I am looking forward to my first mission.  My quarters have been assigned and they are nicer than I expected.  I was able to bring only a few personal items with me from home, but it helps me to ease into my new station here.

    I have yet to introduced myself to the captain, but look forward to engage him in discussions.  He strikes me as a man with a vision and with much determinaton.  I only hope I will be able to prove my worth, not only to him, but to the rest of the crew.

    I have seen my station and I look forward to getting to work.  I am preparing a preliminary report on my new theories of temporal wakes and the effects they have on subspace within the region.  Hopefully this will allow future scientists to develop new ways of controlling the long term effects of subspace fractures and effects of crew members.

    As I sit here and contemplate my new life in Starfleet, I can still here my mother's words echoing in my head, "There is a world where time and space have an equal hold over each other, and over us.  You will find that link and explore it to its fullest potential, and then realize you have only scratched the surface my son.  But the journey will be unlike any you have experienced"  My mission begins.
