Battlestar Galactica

78 posts in this topic
There is a marathon of Five Episodes being shown on Tuesday night. That one should be the last one of the evening. So you can catch the cleverly done inside gag then. Love to know who wrote that Toaster scene in there.

Crap! It would have to be on sim night too.

I'm also an old school Battlestar Galactica fan, and yes Space 1999 too. (Had one of the big 3 foot long toy Eagles when they came out)

Hey I had that Eagle as well! I recall the cockpit detaching, along with the engines; allowing you to make your own escape vehicle, Don't know what became of it. I also had a few Galactica Put together Toys that were never shown in the show...Kinda like an expanded universe type vehicle. I really wish I had the Viper with the Missiles that flew out. I think the manufacturer had to redesign the toy so the missile didn't fly out.

I hope Galactica is on the tube long enough for a decent replica of the ship to be made by someone.

Haven't really bothered to watch it, it just seems to gloomy (perhaps even Voyagery). And the fact that the Commander looks like Max Weinberg doesn't help either.

::diddle-e do..diddle-e-do.....flashback::

Ah.....I remember crashing that Eagle so many times....and yes..the cockpit and engines detached and combined to form a mini-vessel....::which was a submarine more times than I can recall::

I had the functioning ones..the Viper...multipurpose viper and cylon fighters..with the wings that slid out...You know...those projectiles were pretty small...we could have choked..

Toy makers today must love children too much to allow them to be exposed to such dangers...its a wonder I survived

OK, I saw the episode of Helo making toast. Sorry, but I don't see one of the "TOS" Cylon heads there.

The toaster that Helo was using was the joke. Of course it had to be one of those immense Chrome ones. The thing even had a redlight attached to it. Ill have to Google search to see if a toaster like that was ever made. Probably a Prop shop creation. I don't know whose idea it was make this "the tip of the hat" to the old cylons but it was craftly done. Of course, many Sci-Fans think the original Cylons looked like walking chrome toasters hence the joke.

Just got a bleep that Battlestar Galactica has been renewed for another season. Hopefully they will get more than 12 episodes!

Well I disagree. I think that toaster didn't look like anything but a toaster. From this discussion I know the joke was it was intended to look like one of the old Cylons but to me it didn't.

Excellent episode tonight. I was on the edge of my chair. Not gonna give anything away in cased anyone missed it, or see it aired in a different zone. This series is getting better and better. And yes, I did notice the toster thing. It was very subtle, but there.

The scene near the end with Adama and the Chief was good stuff. Glad they are going to make more episodes in the future. I just hope they can keep the cast!

No way in heck is a Sergeant going to be given as much power as that investigator had.

Yes.

That Sargeant had quite the witch hunt going on didn't she? And then she goes and takes on Adama! Dang!

Hey there,

Link to the actual article detailing the renewal is: SciFi renews Galactica

I'm rather certain they will have a regular season. From what I recall, the decision for the first was simply to see if it could be done, if it could be done without going broke, to see if the audience was there, etc. They've passed all of the above. :P

I certainly hope they are able to secure the cast they currently now have for an additional season. Aside from the Actors who play the President and Adama, I haven't seen these faces before (or just don't recall seeing them). The actor who plays Baltar is doing a fine job of playing a guy who is truly lost in his mind...(2/18 episode e.g.)

I think I remember reading on the StarTrek.com message boards that the show has already been renewed for another season. The author of the post was British and said the season had just finished airing there. I could be wrong...

OK, I've seen about 4 or 5 episodes of the new show now.

Sheesh, is there anything without a prostate that Baltar isn't hot for?

Heh,

If Baltar were in Las Vegas where I am right now, I think the guy would overload!

Obviously this is his achilles heel. I am getting a bit tired of the six constantly appearing in his mind. I am actually hoping some other characte comes along and occupies his mind.

On Caprica however, I dont mind six being there. She's playing a pretty sinister cylon there in the Boomer-Helo Experiment.

PS Sorry for the poor typing this rental internet thingy has luusy resoultion.

Hey there,

Well back on topic....

Thought this week's episode dealing with the XO's wife was interesting to say the least. I have to admit, I thought the exchange in Baltar's lab between the main character was one of the best to date.

Nice to know the show will be back for a second season with a full twenty something episode count.

Did anyone catch in the XO's Wife episode - in a convo btw 6 and Baltar, 6 implied that EVERYone will show up as a non cylon with Baltar doing the tests?

I admit - I don't know who to trust. :(

I would have to say that with Baltar in charge of the test, He will be able to pick the ones that will be or not be cylons. I for one don't like it and would have more than just him doing the test if I were in charge. As far as the XO's wife. The way they talk about her, she is the same but still could be a cylon. Now whats up with Boomer? We all know she is a cylon but I gess she don't like it now. I'm just wondering if there going to kill her off soon or what. Maybe she will help them with finding all the cylons or some thing like that. I will say that this show keep you on the edge of your seat all the time. things change and you don't know what is going to happen next. That is what I like about this show so far. I hope they can keep that up. This show will be a big hit if they do. :(

Tigh's wife was ....hysterical I thought. Looks like they set her up as a "wild card" type character in so much as they can utilize her as a cylon if a script needs it or just keep her human. She looked as if she can do damage either way.

Events on Caprica just keep getting more interesting with Boomer (Sharon?) Not quite following the Cylon's plans. I don't see the link between the Caprica Arc and Events on Galactica..but given how much time they are putting into it. I am very curious what is in Ron Moore's mind for the Boomer models.

Sci-Fi is doing a great job on the website end of Battlestar Galactica. Anyone notice in the ships section the Classified ship "Flattop" More Vipers being assembled there perhaps. I think they'll need them for next season!

::resurrects the topic::

OK...I need to make a retraction on some ealier comments of mine....err...well..an alter-ego of mine..::looks at log-in name::

I now agree with Daryus....I was initially put out by Starbuck as a Female and Boomer as a Cylon..after having watched several episodes..I think this move brought some really good material to the show...not in sexual tension between Apollo and Starbuck as expected...they remind me more of brother/sister..or 1st cousins trying to out-do one another...but just in really interesting story lines and character development-interaction..although starbuck overacts a bit at times..but with a new actress/show that is expected...I see only good things coming down the pipe.

One very interesting aspect is the GOD issue between 6 and Baltar...several have said they are tired of the storyline..I disagree..I think it shows just how nutty Baltar is becoming...his internal struggle between good and evil...and now that he thinks he is an instrument of GOD....watch your back... :P

The only loophole currently (to me) is the lack of raw materials to sufficiently rebuild/renew the Viper count...perhaps they can find a "crazy eddies used Viper lot" in the near future....;)

Hey...it could happen :)

I must confess I am one of those that was getting a bit fatigued at the "Six" running around in Baltar's head. I have been wanting to see Baltar interact with other characters of the show without interruption from "Six". However, the last episode did play "Six" well, steering him into religous belief..instead of satisfying another element of his pysche. This religious aspect adds another aspect to Baltar. A future religous zealot? Stay tuned.

The Recent episode where Galactica Stages a raid on a Cylon fuel depot was amazing. It had characters being developed..yet centered on a risky combat mission. My only disappointment was ambiguious mopping up of the Cylon fighter force after they blew the mine.

Galactica as posters have already mentioned is getting extremely thin on vipers. Worse pilots. Something has to be done in the future about this. The good news is they (producers) are aware of the Viper/Viper Pilot shortage. They actually keep updated counts on the website. See the Producer's Blogs as well.

Foodstuffs are a big...big issue as well. It's unavoidable, It appears though the producers are angling on the need for a Government (aka transition of power..voting representation) to be tackled first. Perhaps once a government is somehow miraculously created, the issue of drafting military personel could be implement. Helping the Viper issue. Food would be the next chapter...for one does not simply run into a McD Colonial Burger Fast food station fatten up at. They would have to secure a planet first for harvest.....Kobol?

I am still pleased with this show. I think Ron Moore is doing a fantastic job...and he isnt afraid to mention his old Trek ties in his Blogs...along with other interesting thoughts. The show has made the TV Guide Cover. Things are looking up for this show in the sci fi universe.
