We're famous!

Wouldnt it be super cool if paramount decided to make references to STSF ships on star trek shows?

like had a ship stop off at Sky Harbor Aegeis...or be hailed by the U.S.S. Reaent

there's certainly enough media on them flying about that it could be pulled off. Imagine having you're character mentioned on the actual show!!

I know its unrealistic...but wouldnt it be cool?

Actually, the Klingon Encounter ride at Star Trek: The Experience is based on a Qob-Lakota plot. They...

Heh.. I doubt that'd happen anytime soon. ;) Anyways, we get all the advertisement we need on Startrek.com's Community page. Geez, the vast majority of us came here via that anyways.

Back in the day when SFOL on AOL was more closely associated with Paramount than it is now, it was rumored that Paramount writers routinely perused the SFOL message boards to get plot ideas. For example, I'm sure we all remember how Ezri Dax was kinda "thrown into" the whole hosting process, because there was no other host around, and the Symbiosis Commission didn't want the Dax symbiont to die? And how Ezri had problems adjusting to the symbiont's past memories at first, because she hadn't been trained like most Trill selected for hosting? Yeah, that backstory appeared on SFOL about eight months or so before the episode first aired. So.. you never know. Maybe one of the storylines here will end up on some future Star Trek show!

Gee, I wonder what actor they will use to play my role. I'd like for Brad Pitt or Val Kilmer but most likely it will be Danny DeVito.

I have my own personal small blue planet set against a small goldish-red nebula in Voyager, courtesy of one of the best CGI guys around. We were joking around that Janeway some days sounded more like Katherine Hepburn in "On Golden Nebula".

He cracked up, we chatted more and a few weeks later we got to see the ship flying by a small blue planet set in a golden nebula, just like I had asked him for.

So...nannie..nannie...

She's not kidding either.

Neither is Sketti. We're fairly certain that our boards were perused from time to time, as well as our advanced chatrooms visited every once in a while.

I have no reason to believe that they are now, though. I think that today there is such a vast amount of Trek gaming on the web that both the novelty is gone, and there's just way too much crap to be sifted through if one were interested in looking around. There also isn't the same parallel now as there was then, that is, back then there was Voy and DS9 both in most of our ship timelines. Now we just have Ent, and only one Ent sim. (And they're clearly not looking for new ideas for that! hahaha).

::weighs between both ageis and reaent:: Hey I'm on both. That would be cool if my characters were to be used.

Or if someday on Enterprise, we hear of future NX's and the Challenger was brought up along with Crew.

Jeez, didn't you guys ever hear about how Dr. Dustin Marks saved the Enterprise? Or how Security Officer Marks saved the Enterprise-D? Or how Engineer Marks stopped a warp core explosion on Voyager? Or what about when...

::THWAP::

LOL

The Challenger is referenced as a NX class ship on many other ENT sites. I don't know if we thought of it first.

Hey there,

Cougar's remark does make me point out one thing. Over the years, I have found more than one site that seems to reference "Star Trek" data mostly from startrek.com...yet there are also brief suggestions of material coming from STSF. I'm guessing it is due to our association with Paramount there is an assumption about content.

So, STSF grew out of SFOL from AOL/AIM? And SFOL was really connected with Paramount then? And Paramount peeps may or may not have been observing for possible story ideas?

::Paramount Assistant 1 turns to Paramount Assistant 2::

A1: Okay, I was in the chat room as Ensign Batleth the other night, so its your turn.

A2: Got it. I think I'll use the Lt. Blade name. I'll hang out and see what the simmers come up with. I think it's the USS Ix Nay on the Nam Ay simming tonite.

::Paramount Assistant 3 walks in::

A3: I'll check out the boards too. A good story idea might pop up there, too.

::Mission Impossible them plays:: :D

Going back to Semaj's original comment:

Oh yes that would be da bomb if one of the ships from here showed up on Trek.

It could be done by Enterprise - a cargo ship named Raeant / Manticore / Excalibur, a Romulan ship invading Earth space named Talon, or a renegade Klingon ship called IKC Qob/ Lakota. The writers could make it work.

Now, having one of our names show up on a show? Or even one of our characters? That could be a little sticky.

I mean, technically, all of these character Bios and our names - they are our own creation and information - so it's as if we have an unofficial copyright. Period.

Even if Paramount was inclined to do this sort of thing, it would be wise for the legal department to ask first and call for volunteers among the STSF simmers for use of their characters or names.

Well, they'd also have to call STSF and actually seek permission to use the ship's names, since they do all belong to STSF. :D

Actually, I purposefully chose my character not to have any relation to anyone in canon Trek. That way, I would never have to deal with canon Trek contradicting something that happened to my character and I wouldn't have to write storylines that might destroy the integrity of other people's (read: ST writers') characters.
