Star Trek 11 cancelled!

Hey there,

It's a little hard for a project to be cancelled when it was never officially really off the ground. ;)

According to what Berman was saying, the script he was developing would "deal with a new crew during the Romulan war." Well, while that's nice, the entire concept of having a completely new crew for the first time on the big screen is a big issue.

Personally, with a new head of Paramount moving in within the next year or so, I think Berman's days are seriously numbered. The fact Enterprise's stories and ratings have started to improve since he backed away from the show is a clear sign of things to come.

Yeah...as I have maintained...I think that we needed to wait a little while before we make a new movie. I mean really, the series is still struggling and you want to make a major motion picture?

And I agree with Fred, with Lansing leaving Paramount, it is likely that the Berman and Braga Days are over ::whistling "happy days are here again"::. It will be interesting to see who will be put in charge of the franchise.

I'll cross my fingers for JMS, the Babylon 5 producer. Paramount offered him a producer's spot on Enterprise, but he turned it down because he didn't want to work for B&B. Franchise head? Maybe that's dreaming, but he could be a huge help in any capacity.

I would like Ira Steven Behr. He did great with DS9. Ira could produce a show, or write for it.

I would like to bring up that SciFi.com's weekly poll involves the next Star Trek movie, which brings prominance to the rumor about the next ST movie being about Starfleet Academy.

Hey there,

Sorry, I put JMS in the same bucket with Berman and Braga. I lost all respect for the man when he started going around during the final season of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine complaining to the media that "Star Trek is stealing my ideas! They're trying to make another Babylon 5 ending!" It got to the point he was quoted numerous times stating "I've already seen the script. They're blowing up the station, copying exactly what I did. This is just another insult."

Well, we all saw what the real script seems to have indiciated.

No, JMS has no place near Star Trek. I was glad he turned down the position. He puts the word arrogant to a new level. Don't get me wrong, I love Babylon 5 and thought Crusade had a future despite TNT's behind the scenes destruction. I just don't think he "works well" with others.

As for a new head after Berman and Braga, from what I'm seeing, Coto wouldn't be that bad of a choice. We're talking about someone that's turned a collapsing Trek show into one that's producing some very entertaining stories. I know I have a relative, a TOS fan, who "put up with" DS9 but could barely stomach Janeway. She didn't have much interest in Archer, but towards the start of this season started watching again. Has become hooked. In her words "They're filling in the blanks", which is what the show was supposed to be doing in the first place.

Outside of him, I'd almost say go back and pull Harve Bennett out of the closet.

hey, you guys (and gals) ever think that star trek will be over? Probably eventually, but how many series do you think we will see before its done? Sad concept, but an intriguing one. ;)

Well as we learned from TNG, "All Good Things . . ." do indeed end. Yet it is important to remember "What You Leave Behind" because it may seem desperate, but it is not necessarily "Endgame". ;)

Eventually new Trek series will stop coming, but I hope this happens before the series become thin enough to ruin Trek. Enterprise came close, but season four is starting to pick up. I'm hoping that we'll get another feature movie or two, and then maybe a miniseries.

But Trek will live on in the fans, so I don't think it will really ever end per se . . . even if the last Trek series ends on a low note, the good thing is that we can always go back and dwell in the past, 'better' parts of the timeline ;)

Hmmmm.....good question.

Very good question.

I think we would all enjoy seeing Trek continue Trekking in series and/or movies, but there is that possibility that both may stop at some point in the future.

Then again, there also seems to be a cycle - interest in Trek lags for a few years, and then interest picks up again. At least, this is what I've noticed during my time as a Trek fan.

We shall see.

I don't die until Trek Dies! or maybe Trek doesn't die until I die!

Let's hope I won't be dying any time soon.

I loved B&B when they were writers...just coming up with unusual stories for the show amongst the 'normality'.

Then everything became so weird...I dunno. I didnt like the DS9 never-ending-story, the singular plot that lasted 4 seasons, nor did I like Enterprise's 3-season voyage in the expanse.

Id rather not have a movie, having not been very excited about the last ones. Wait 10 years, then I'll be pumped. They're just milking the franchise to death.

Yeah honestly, eh? Good riddance to bad rubbish. I'm with you all in saying I'm glad to see B&B go.. they're pretty much what tarnished the good name of Star Trek. I'm not too sad to see the cancellation of the Star Trek 11 Movie. After Nemesis, I think I'd be hessistant to see any new Star Trek movie in the near future. I'd say give it some time before they pump out a new Trek movie -- or new series for that matter. ;)

I think that they should make a new series featuring Character from various Series and leave them with the Characters that we have come to know and love, but the on;y way that would work is with the TNG cast DS9 Cast and Voyager Cast.

Like have Kira be StarFleet finally, and Bashir. Tom and Belanna just cause they're married. Worf and Goerdi. Oh we need a Captain Hmm...... How about Some random guy that they find off the stree. Oh and and Opperations Guy how about Harry Kim this time he might actually have more that the one Pip. It's just a thought. That would make a great series.
