Starship Class

I'm pretty sure it was meant as a long range support vessel by using its torpedos

I think that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and whether or not you find a ship to look good/bad is something that is unique to you.

I used to think that the Galaxy class starships were unattractive, given that their "neck" was so long, but over time it has grown on me. I am less fond of the Soverign class starships as they seem like someone took the ship and stretched it out. Like silly puddy.

Although I think that Intrepid has one of the better looking designs to it, I think that it was underused for "maneuverability" during the Voyager series. You find that the Intrepid was supposed to be designed for fast and tight turns, but you rarely got to see that. Verses the Defiant class starship that you always got to see some great action shots in.

Someone on this forum once stated the Steamrunner looks like a shovelhead, and I agree. I don't recall though what the actual design of the Steamrunner was. ST Armada makes it out to be a long range torpedo launcher. As I look around I realize I have no clue where my ST Encyclodpedia is, so I have no way to find out what the offical purpose of it was. Someone should pull that up if they have time.

Memory alpha has all the in depth information one could hope to delve into, beleive me

as for the "shovel" class...(steamrunner) i just love the way that the nacelles are mounted in the saucer, with the bussards glowing out the front, beautiful

that reminds my...why did geordi have such a compulsion to say naycelles, it always kinda bothered me

Ah..The SteamRunner Class...

A First Contact CGI Construct..I think the best information on this vessel would be from Star Trek: The Magazine. Nothing of note is in the Star Trek Encyclopedia in terms of a "role" this starship had. Apparently Smaller than the Norway Class yet larger than the agile...Sabre Class Starship (both First Contact CGI Starships).

I guess you could break the First Contact Debut Starships down this way...

Akira-Heavy Cruiser

Norway-Medium Cruiser

Steamrunner-Light Cruser

Sabre-Destroyer

Out of these guys, I think I have made it known the Akira design is my all time favorite amongst all Canon Starships created. An updated, larger Miranda with Teeth!

I did it's bassically a Indimitador class except with nacelles all around instead of only 3, but it also has the extra weapons the galaxy-x has so rapid shot turrents and that one huge gun thing.

You know, I was in a Outlet KB Toys a year or so back and found this program by pure accident that had a variety of trek programs in it, including the Star Trek TNG Engineering Manual, Star Trek Captain's Chair, and a program called Starship Creator. I could never get the program to work though it always looked interesting. If I can find it, I'll see if I might be able to get the thing running.

thats exciting. I actually created an entire trek series with a character called "Sema'J" as captain and character's based on friends from that time. the ship was the U.S.S. Avenger, and it was sweet class who's saucer looked like a hexagon but with a big v cut out of the bottom where the battle section came out. I even came up with a movie plot loosely based on September 11th.

As of late I designed a cool class where an armored section with just engineering and wepons that is attached to the nacelles detatches from the ship and becomes an incredibly powerful battle ship with huge engine power (as it is detached from the rest of the mass of the ship). it was sweet, the bridge split into two, one half staying with the rest of the ship, and the helm and ops were suspended chairs in front of an IMAX type veiw screen. good stuff!

a klingon Vor'Cha was meant as a vessel for peaceful exploration

Ooh, them's fighting words. I ought to borrow a Bat'leth and gut you for even using "peaceful exploration" and "Vor'Cha" in the same sentence. (Funny thing, on the Qob it is usually my Vulcan character who is the first to advise red alert or targeting phasers or whatever.)

And the Defiant is cute, when it runs. One minor phaser hit and the darn thing starts smoking! Fighting ship my butt.

The Soyuz class is pretty cool too. Though some people don't count it as a separate class since it looks like a Miranda. The Bozeman is a Soyuz class "cutter ship".

You know why it looks so much like the Miranda class? The model they used when filming Cause & Effect was the very same model used of the Reliant in The Wrath of Kahn. They just accessorized it a bit.

Here is some more trivia about the Boseman:

The Captain, whos first name was Morgan - as in Captain Morgan - was played by Cheers actor Kelsey Gramar (Frasier). So you have a drunk playing a drunk.

It gets better than that. The original First Officer of the Boseman was supposed to be Saavik, as in Lt. Saavik from The Wrath of Kahn. Another Boseman-Reliant connection.

Still more: Lt. Saavik in The Wrath of Kahn was played by Kristi Alley, who later ended up with Kelsey Gramar on Cheers. Another Cheers-Trek connection.

The USS Boseman (and Kelsey Gramar) were to be heard from or mentioned again in All Good Things, Generations, and First Contact. That was Kelsey Gramar's voice you heard saying "Acknologed" over the com although it went uncredited.

Speaking of First Contact, it supposedly took place in Boseman, Montana.

Anyway, Memory Alpha has a lot of interesting info about the ship.

The Bozeman was also caught in casualty loop with the Enterprise-D at one point.

Originally, the Bozeman was a Miranda class ship. It was refitted when it came forward through time and rechristened as a Soyuz class ship. B)
