Maqui Sim?

STSF has a lot of the Trek Universe covered with the Diversity of the Sims : Original Series, TNG/DS9/VOY, ENT, A Klingon/Feddy ship, a Romulan ship - its all covered.

Has the possibility of a Maqui based Sim ever been brought up?

I've always enjoyed those rebel scoundrels. ^_^ :)

its an interesting concept, it is a LOT of work to start a sim from scratch. some of these ships, most of them..have been in service for 10+ years. talk to the group who started up Challanger NX-05

Yep. 10+ years shows hard work and dedication, and Im new to on line simms, but I do know that setting up times, getting personnel, storylines all requires time to get a sim off the ground.

Just curious about Maqui Sim mainly cause Ive never heard / seen it done on line yet.

Hey there,

It is an interesting concept. However, there are several things one must keep in mind.

Perhaps the biggest is the fact there is only a certain "percentage" of the population who are interested in specality sims. By that I mean, most folks (not all) want to play a character in the very familiar post TNG/DS9/VOY era as a Starfleet officer. It takes a unique individual to be interested in playing aboard a Klingon or Romulan ship. In the same light, takes a certain type of person to want to be aboard a TOS ship. Heck, people still sometimes take the TNG/DS9/VOY era over the Enterprise era...I guess that deals with having almost twenty years of stories in this time vs only a few seasons in the 2150s.

Second, issue with a Maquis sim would be this...do they even still exist? According to what was established in DS9 and actually then backed up with Janeway and company, the Maquis were pretty much completely destroyed when the Dominion joined forces with the Cardassian Union. On top of it all, given the fact that Federation forces took control of probably most "neutral zone border" regions during the war and their trek towards Cardassia Prime, the "main goal" of the Maquis was met.

In any event, I'm not saying it could be made to work, but just some reasons why you possibly haven't seen many games of this type. ^_^

Hmmmm. So, a Maqui sim would possibly only have a five to ten year time frame to function in? And, it would prolly get "old" after a while. LOL u could only go after the Cardassians for so long. ^_^

Thanks.

you could do this really suspense filled sim, where a maquis ship gets off course, and is chased by a federation ship...then both ships could get randomly flung far into the delta quadrant and now they have to ban together to get home!!!!!....oh wait a minute....that sounds familiar...

actually, that makes me think of something funny...imagine if a group of STSFers were doing Voyager as a sim, and it wasnt a series...and their going along, routine maquis chase mission when:

[sTSF_GM_man:] <ACTION: the ship is in the delta quadrant>

^_^ is the looks on the faces of the simmers...

:) ROFL just thinking about it

Although I don't think it'd make a good Advanced sim, it sounds like a good idea for an Academy sim (I've never had a Maquis one . . . )

I really enjoy the short plots of the Academies because you can do a lot of things (like die). I think my favourite was a murder-mystery set aboard a starbase, that was pretty cool. My second favourite would have to be where we were imprisoned by some aliens (Cardassians perhaps) and then the crew was taken one by one for torturing Monty-Python style ^_^

Then there was another where we were all engineers . . . and another where the captain was trying to kill us . . . oh, and one where the Ferengi brought up how stupid it is to put your bridge in a fragile dome on the dorsal side of your ship.

I'd enjoy a Maquis-style Academy, it's something different and that's always fun.

some people don't know enough about the Maqui to do a sim, but it is an interesting idea.

I think Paramount lost a real opportunity with the Maquis. I think the idea of a Federation "civil war" had a lot of potential. But they only dealt with it in a handful of TNG and DS9 episodes and the first year of VOY and that was about it.

If any GMs plan to do a Maquis Academy some night drop me a line. I'll try to attend.

There actually is a Maquis sim on another siming fleet I am a part of (though Im not on it), so they're around.. but I really don't see one coming to STSF anytime soon, heh. If you really want to be on one then simply Google for it. ^_^
