Are we off Google?

I usually type in stsf.net on google search to get here, I usually press "I'm fealing lucky" but this time it didn't bring me here it gave me a "no information page" so I clicked the link and got here. Now what's going on?

STSF is still in the Google index, although it doesn't seem to be very high in the rankings, even for a search of "STSF". Just out of curiosity -- if you know the address, why not just type it in the location bar of your browser?

don't worry I have cookies( the technical term of what you mean).

I have what you mean, it's just that today I got "no information" but I could still visit the link. hmmm..... I think I'll try to screenshot it and show it to you.

Now I am saying that this has only happened today.

STSF used to be the 4th or 5th ranked page if you searched for it under Google...at least before the new year. There may be less pages linked to the site than before. ::Shrug::

One of the things Google considers when it "ranks" sites is not only how many other sites link to it but the relative ranking of *those* sites. So even if only two or three sites no longer link to us it can have a big effect on our ranking if those sites had high rankings.

well I've always just typed in stsf.net and press I'm feeling Lucky and it brings me here, but since tonight it brings me to"sorry no information on Stsf.net" but still shows a link that I click to get here. Tonight it's been working and not working. I've never had this happen before.

The "I feel lucky" just means you will get the first result it comes up with in the search. It's not guarenteed to return the same number one position each time.

If you get no information available, it just means the index is being updated.

Search engines are a strange monster. Your ranking and ratings are all based on various factors. From other sites that link to you, to the type of sites that link to you, to the content that appears on your site itself, to the time that your site was last indexed.

Some of these factors are able to set by us. Others are in the hands of the individual search engines itself.

But honestly I would not rely on the "I feel lucky" feature of Google, because sometimes, you just won't be lucky.
