"Course Laid In" - 50302.27

Lieutenant Junior Grade Garnoopy

Personal Log Stardate 50302.27

"Course Laid In"

"I just want to say hi and see how he's doing, what could possibly be wrong with that?" Garnoopy said, standing there being blocked by Dr. Stone.

"He needs his rest. He's been under a lot of stress" the Doctor replied.

"What rest could he possibly need? He's been asleep for two bloody days!" Garnoopy said, annoyed he couldn't talk to Suberance.

"Lieutenant, if you want to talk to him, come back later. For now, I don't have time for this" the Doctor sternly stated.

Garnoopy let out a sigh, glanced over at Suberance, and left sickbay. He had wanted to see how Suberance was doing and talk to him, but Dr. Stone had been insistent.

He headed towards the bridge, and took the engineering station when he arrived. The updates to the protocols due to the Klenium molecule discovery needed to be completed soon, and he might as well get the work out of the way now.

It took a while to change the protocols, all the data had to be entered, and then the information had to be send to the right people in Starfleet. Since it wasn't normal for a Nebula starship or shuttle in the Federation to have a cloak, he couldn't go broadcasting the information without care as to who got a hold of it. It had to be sent to the people who could properly relay the information to the rest of the Federation

Just as he finished updating the protocols, the Captain ordered him to bring the warp core online, and prepare engineering for departure. Garnoopy had seen the result of the wrap core diagnostics, and was pleased. They were in very good shape. Power was brought to full as the warp cores came online, and Garnoopy felt a pang of pride to be on the Manticore.

"Mr. Garnoopy, take the helm" the Captain ordered.

A bit startled, Garnoopy stood. He knew of course how to fly the ship, but he hadn't had a chance to do so. "Aye aye sir" Garnoopy replied, walking over and taking the helm seat.

The station was quite different form the engineering station. It felt odd to have the Captain at his back; not being able to see him was a tad unnerving.

Maneuvering the ship, Garnoopy flew the Manticore out of the Starbase and set a course for Proxima Centuri, which was approximately 30 minutes away at Warp 6.

The Commodore had stepped in, and Garnoopy listened with interest as the Commodore talked about a mission he had been on years ago as an XO, and how they were being ordered to investigate the remains of what had hopefully been destroyed way back when.

As with the Captain, it was unnerving to have the CO behind him, where he couldn't be seen. Unfortunately, Garnoopy still has not forgotten the rumors about the CO and the Counsel member. Cold blooded murder.

Shaking his head, Garnoopy went back to flying the ship, not wanting to think about his dozens of questions he had and would probably never get answer to about the Commodore.

Glancing up at the view screen, he noted it was much larger from this spot. Normally, he was at the back of the bridge, but from here, you could see more detail. He smiled, and realized he was enjoying the change in pace.

The Manticore passed the outer marker for Proxima Centuri, and Garnoopy slowed them to impulse, listening to the alarms going off from the science panel and hoping that they were just speaker errors. The Commodore uploaded a set of coordinates, and Garnoopy set an orbit around the planet, holding the Manticore above the spot, wondering what could be down there, hoping that for once they could find something boring, but knowing on this ship, that would never happen.
