Star Trek: Return Of The Syndication

26 posts in this topic

Hey there,

Some Trek web news sites are reporting that this week Paramount Pictures stated in insider news circles that Star Trek: Enterprise will be available for "weekend rerun syndication" during the 2005-2006 television season. Apparently it's a three page ad, some message boards even have text of it posted.

The speculation that they'll only offer it for weekend syndication is apparently Paramount may be considering moving the "weekday" regular run of the show to a cable nextwork if it does indeed have Season 5 (and recent ratings seem to show Enterprise does still have legs).

A more detailed report can be found here.

So, thoughts? If it goes into syndication, a positive move or a negative one?

My own thoughts are that it can only be a positive step. Star Trek: The Next Generation ran in syndication it's entire run and I believe Star Trek: Deep Space Nine was that way as well. Since, no Star Trek show has been able to get similiar ratings. I think moving away from the United Paramount Network is probably a good idea. Would still love to see (but don't expect) to have it appear on a major network like CBS.

Excellent. Now I can see new episodes as well as refamiliarize myself with the older ones.

I consider this good news.

Some of us already only get it on weekend syndication ;)

And yes putting on a real network (which means as far away from "The WB" and UPN as humanly possible is a good thing.

well you have to ask your self who will want it.. is it the most popular show?

if the networks think not than the wb may be the only onw who takes it

i dont think that WB would take it any way they gear their shows toward teens and i only know a handful of people (including myself)( who like trek

Most of the time when a show is put on syndication it get more air time and if it gets more air time more people see it and if more people see it the rating go up. But not with all shows. We will just have to see. ;)

::snarkles:: The WB Station in my area is who shows it ;)

Syndication means that individual stations carry it, not whole networks :)

I tink the show's already in syndicated reruns here on Space.. all Trek shows seemed to have followed this pattern with relative success, so hopefully it'll help keep the series afloat till Season 7. ;)

CBS??? Never happen...

Unless, of course..the Enterprise just runs around Space examining crime scenes..

I'd be happy to see them all just put on SciFi Channel. They've done such a good job with Stargate SG-1 and all their other shows, they would be the right medium for the continued growth.

Besides, then wouldn't have to worry about being pre-empted for Baseball, Basketball, or...if it returns hockey.

Since I've missed almost all of the shows, I could use the syndication. I like it well enough, I just ain't home when it's on.

Hey there,

You do know in the later part of the last century, someone invented these things called "VHS tapes" and devices to which you could record television programming onto them at a scheduled time for viewing later, right? ;)

Heh, and there's always things like TiVo too, eh? :) Great thing to have if you don't want mounds of VHS tapes by your VCR. ;)

I don't suppose there is any chance of Paramount releasing the shows and movies on Beta, is there? What about 8-Track?

I'm sorry, but shoving a VCR tape in the machine takes more more organizational skills that I'm willing to commit for Enterprise. :D

sigh, I always miss the points in these things. I ended up reading a blurb about episode 14. 14! ST.COM is still on episode 11. I think the blurb might be bull, but if it's not, it sounds like it will bring up ratings even more.

jeeze, I looked at some of the other episodes they had, and episode 12 info was realeased around episode 9 information, and 14 at 11. jeeze they're fast.

oh, and forget what I said about boosting the ratings. It sounds like a TOS episode plot, but, then again, that might be helpful.

and I think it'll be best if I shut up now.

I'm having that problem with the Simpsons. FOX has become to obsesed with sports. Simpsons have to wait until November for the TreeHouse episode because of the World Series, and then it's delayed two hours because of some football game between two teams that aren't even near my state! Hmm ::lightbulb comes on:: ::writes letter to Piere Bernard :P ::
