THIS IS THE LOG OF MIDSHIPMAN DR. VICTOR IMAGES: ASSISTANT MEDICAL OFFICER ON THE SKY HARBOR AEGIS. CURRENTLY ON BOARD THE STATION'S SUPPORT VESSEL, THE USS PANDORA'S BOX.

The last few days have been pretty hectic in sick bay.

We've got a new chief medical officer, Dr. Sheepy Jones. He seems to be very capable and calm, however some of his methods seem to be a bit unorthodox. I was then a little shocked at his use of a needle instead of a hypospray, why someone would use such an archaic device i'll never know. But i think i'll learn alot from my new boss, he's handled himself and the sickbay pretty damn well since he's been in. He's especially proved himself resourceful in the situation of our captain and our first officer. The pair of them are still in forcefields. Meve is constantly abusive when awake and on occasions self destructive, several times we have had to sedate him because of this. He seems to be forming a very specific hatred against me, every time i try to perform even the most basic tests on him, he hurls insults and threats at me. I hope this is just because of the chemicals effecting his brain, otherwise when he gets better and out of that forcefield i'm dead. Commander Ayers seems to be in a completely different situation, unlike the captain he isn't planning on clubbing me to death with my own tricorder, he's acting calm and more importantly, i don't think putting him to sleep that often is a good idea. When he's asleep he has terrible dreams involving the deaths of many of his people, he suffers a great amount of pain when this happens. Furthermore when he is not conscius, his brain takes a lot more damage, i believe this may be because he cannot use his el-aurian mind sheilding to as great an extent. Because of this he tries to stay awake as much as possible, reading and when the captain is in the mood, talking. But sometimes the strain is too much and he has to face his nightmares again. It's wearing him down, and i think he knows it but he's acting like it isn't. Something i respect. We are going to implement Dr. Jones's temporary cure very soon, just when we have a proper usable sample. It will not work for long but any cure is a cure, i just have fears they'll become immune to it in time. Dr. Jones has done a very great thing finding this cure but i'm worried he is working far too hard, he needs more rest, we all do.

On a side note i'm somewhat worried about my performance in duty, technically i am extremely skilled, my academy grades prove that, but maybe my tactics when talking to a patient need some tweaking. I might of come off slightly blunt. Commander Ayers told me "i suggest that you ease off and try a little honey rather then vinegar" when i was working on the captain. I do understand that i'm not always mr. happiness but it is not my job to entertain the patient, damnit i'm a doctor not a comedian. hippocrates himself said that "a doctor who smiles too much appears to the patient as a fool". Maybe i'm just too tense, my counselor back in training warned me about longterm problems to do with the death of my parents but i think all of that is completely absurd. After my shift is over i'll go up to the holodeck on deck six and let out a bit of steam on a combat sim. I'd go to the lounge except i think some of the crew think of me as "that angry guy in medical". I'll take a lower level simulation, recently the burn on my back has been killing me.

END LOG
