"For Once, More Answers Than Questions" - Part I

Lieutenant Junior Grade Garnoopy

Personal Log Stardate 50302.21

“For Once, More Answers Than Questions” – Part I of III

WHAM. It hit him like the Griffin smashing into the shuttle bay. The idea, the theory, the one thing that could possibly explain what had happened to the Griffin’s cloak. It had been on all the reports, all the scans, everything had shown it, it was so obvious!

Standing from the bar, he turned, and nearly smashed into Lt. Jg. Precip, who had arrived to inquire about the status of the repairs on the two beaten shuttles.

Completely overwhelmed with ideas, Garnoopy asked Precip to walk with him, so they could make good time to get to the holodeck, where he knew that the beginning of his theory could be tested.

Walking rapidly, Garnoopy easily avoided crewmembers, thinking at a high rate of speed while moving towards the turbolift he needed to get to. Precip followed not so easily, but managed to somehow keep up.

Still moving quickly, Garnoopy spoke up “I have a theory, I think I know what happened.”

Dodging another crewmember, Precip inquired “A theory? A theory about what?”

“About what? The only thing that’s been on my mind for days Mr. Precip. The bloody Griffin cloak” Garnoopy responded glancing over his shoulder.

They stepped into the turbolift, Precip just making it before the doors closed. “Holodeck 1” Garnoopy ordered.

“You’re going to run a simulation?” Precip inquired looking over at Garnoopy.

Still lost in thought, staring at the turbolift doors, “I just had a thought about the scans of the cloaking generator on the Griffin, it may be important.”

“May I tag along and see what you mean exactly?” Precip said, wondering what this theory was.

“Sure, no problem” Garnoopy replied.

Garnoopy stepped out of the turbolift, and continued to walk quickly, dodging personnel moving around while Precip worked to keep up and not bump into to many people.

They stepped into the holodeck, and glancing around, Garnoopy immediately piped up “Computer, are their any simulations regarding the Griffin accident on Stardate 50301.20?”

The response was immediate from the computer, “Affirmative. Simulation Roget Seven Alpha contains a full recreation of the accident that occurred on Stardate 50301.20.”

Smiling, Garnoopy looked over at Precip. He had thought that the Lt. Cmdr. might have put something together, to attempt to figure out what was going on.

Working with the computer, Garnoopy quickly created an engineering panel, which he could monitor systems with while the simulation played out. He needed to be able to see what was going on with the cloak the whole time, to see what happened, if he was correct, to find out if he was responsible. It was uncertain to him if he could handle not knowing what happened, and if he could remain in Starfleet if it was his fault.
