Kania was born on Bajor during the Occupation and my parents were taken away from me when it was found out that they were giving Intelligence information to the underground. Her father was high in the Council and the Cardassians said that they were going to make an example of him. They tortured him terribly making her and her mother watch as they did so. And then they killed him. Later a drunken Cardassian came and took her mother away and she never saw her again. She was 6 yrs. old when this took place. Kania was taken in by the underground and when she was old enough to help out they taught her Medical Triage. When she was 16, she applied for Star Fleet.

Engineering update classes <Remedial coarse>

 

Kania took a Command Coarse, serving on the USS Ranger Shuttle, delivering secret documents to Star Base Louisville and passed that test with flying colors ,but wasn't as fortunate in the finals on the USS Enterprise. Her mission was successful but she didn't come back with an undamaged ship. At that time she figured that command wasn't for her and she should stay with medical which was her major in Academy.

Her minor was in Engineering and she didn't do to well in that coarse. After her graduation she found out there was an engineering post available on the USS Republic, where her new boy friend is stationed. So she took a refresher coarse in Engineering, so she wouldn't embarrass herself in the site of her new Engineering chief and to her new Captain.

 

While She was in Academy, She met a young man named J'Ddan C Ace. He was

1/2 Klingon and 1/2 human. She didn't know what to think of him at first but they seemed to hit it off well. They started dating and Kania was really getting to know him well when he graduated. She had spoken to him several times since his leaving the Academy. She even visited him once on the Republic when it was in dock and after that, found herself thinking of him more and more. When she found out about the post opening

she was ecstatic, being able to work on the same ship as him. She just hoped she could concentrate on her Engineering studies long enough to make passing grades during the next 2 weeks , Or maybe get lucky enough to have a medical post become available since that was her major.

Well?, I finally got my orders in today. I am to report to the USS Republic on star date 98041.3 at 2300 hours and report to Chief Engineer TKai. I hope this refresher coarse does me good. I am still nervous about taking an Engineering post when I majored in Medical and only minored in Engineering. I have taken 2 tests so far. I passed the first with flying colors repairing EMH in medical department but that was easy medical is my specialty after all. The second I think I did ok on, haven't gotten the score back on that one yet.

I have been thinking of J'Ddan since I found out that I was going to be working with him on the Republic. I don't know whether to tell him or surprise him when I show up on the Republic on 41.3. I guess I will surprise him. I hope he likes surprises. I hope the Captain doesn't tell him before I arrive on board. {Kania gets a transmission while shes recording her log.} Computer pause log, {she opened the transmission and quickly reopened her log.} Computer continue recording. I have just received the results from my test, I passed but not as high as I would have liked. My instructor said that I did well for the first time being in that type situation. Of course all I did was to follow orders, how can you mess that up. I guess I missed something or I would have scored higher. Computer End log.

 

At the end of those two weeks Kania received her last score for her remedial engineering coarse. "Well my last test scores cames today. I have learned a lot but not sure if ready to become an Engineer. I guess I will find out shortly. My papers say yes but my heart says not yet. Well it's over. I didn't fail but I didn't do to well either. I made it by the skin of my teeth. I new I was in trouble when They said to redo something with the warp core matrix. Then I was lost I, hope I never have that happen on board the Republic. It turned into a fiasco. The Warp core on the verge of rupture. Thank the Prophets it was only a simulation and no one was really hurt. My instructor told me to keep hitting the books and it would all make since to me . I hope he was right. Well time to report I am as nerves as a bowl of Gagh getting ready to be eaten. I hope my grades are good enough for my new Chief. Well here I go to the USS Republic. I hope J'Ddan isn't busy when I get there. I can't wait to see him. I really miss him a lot. Computer End log."

 

After being posted to Republic, Kania found her boy friend. She had known he was on this ship and she had worked hard to get there also. After a year and a half of dating, J'Ddan asked Kania to be his wife. The ceremony was performed on the Republic with Captain BluRox officiating the ceremony. Right as Jd'Dan kissed his new bride the Red alert klaxons went off and it was back to duty, their honeymoon was going to have to wait.

 

On one of their missions Jd'Dan and Kania were both on the landing party. An Evil scientist was playing around with cloning and altering genetics. Kwai and 2 others had been taken and a Search party was formed. Kania was pregnant at the time but this didn't stop her from going on the mission. They had landed their shuttle and started to scout around when out of the skies came Giant Flying Spider wasps. These things had harpoons for stingers and they could launch them.

 

J'Ddan was harpooned through the chest and Kania was picked up by the wasps and then dropped when another Sec officer hit it with his phaser. Kania managed to escape with minor injuries. The medical staff was worried about the baby for a time but everything turned out alright. Although her husband didn't fair so well.

 

Back on the ship, J'Ddan was put in stasis and taken to a Star Fleet Medical facility. Right before they took him away, Kania delivered their child and named her Schawana, the name her husband had picked out when he found out she was pregnant.

 

Kania is now alone with her child and also has the responsibility of being the Ships XO. She just hoped she could handle both positions.

 

Kania was assisting her Chief of Science work on an experiment. It was related to DNA sequencing. She made the choice to allow him to test the serum of her. It was an experiment gone bad, Kania was shunken to 2 inches tall. They had to go Rear Admiral BluRox and explain themselves. The CSCI managed to get the XOs height to within a 1/2 foot of her normal height. It was decided not to try anything else that the women would have to live with the everyday memory not to mess with DNA sequencing.

 

Kania has been through a lot since J'Ddan was pronounced dead. It hurt her terribly but she swore she would continue on and raise their daughter the way he would have wanted her to. She was given the choice of having Schawana go back to Bajore or to remain with her on the Republic. She chose to keep her daughter with her. She didn't have any family left on Bajore and wanted her daughter to know the love she had for her and to know what her father was like.

 

Schawana actually helped the Republic identify a changeling that had switched places with her mother. Every time the changeling would come close to her she was scream her little lungs out. During the time the Changeling was on the ship Schawana stayed in medical, the changeling demanding she remain there that something was wring with her. It was finally figured out and she was reunited with Kania once she was found.

 

Kania has managed to keep getting herself in trouble. The most recent was when the Prophets decided to speak to her and get her help in locating the lost probes of Bajore. Kania went as far as defying orders not just from Admiral BluRox, but also from another Admiral from HQ. She also managed to get other members of her crew captured and even tortured almost to their deaths. Once the rescue team found them and saved them, She was about to be court martialed, the Prophets saw it fit to place her and her entire crew as well as the 2 Admirals on a planet where they had to work together to save themselves. As crews began working together, they disappeared and reappeared on the ship with no time being lost. After this entire incident the Admirals found it in their best interest to drop the charges and allow Kania to regain her rank and retake her place on the ship as the XO, which had been stripped of her during her insubordinate acts.

 

Kania is now on probation and being carefully watched and scrutinized by Admiral BluRox for a report that she has to do on her two highest ranking officers being able to work together.
