Can't call her K-9, she's not a dog...

Please give a smile and an "awwwww" to the newest member of the A9 family. After a 17-year old cat finally wasted away and died last week, the family completed the standard period of mourning ("can we get a kitten, pleeeeeeez?!")

And so I present... Emma

Oooh, cool. We've got two cats, sisters who look nothing alike and are six or seven years old. They're cute for a time, then they stay cute but devious. :D

Those are some wild eyes on your cat A9. Are you sure this is a cat and not an animal here to discover that the answer to the universe is 42?

Why cats are better than dogs

Cats purr. Dogs drool.

Cats use a litter box. Dogs use your leg.

In 1996, over 10,000 US deaths were attributed to a dog owner's choking on saliva during morning wakeup licks.

Cats always land on their feet. Dogs just won't let you throw them.

Cats will wait until you've read your morning paper before tearing it to shreds.

Cats look cute sleeping on the TV. Dogs just crash right in front of the screen.

Fewer cat owners suffer from 'Flappy Tail' lacerations than dog owners.

No one has ever had to "Beware of the Cat".

Cats have better things to do than stick their nose in your crotch.

Why do you think they call it, "Dog Breath?"

Aww, that's a cute little kitty. :D But 17 years is a long time for a cat.. I knew one person who cat a cat that lived to be 25. Hope this one lives a long and healthy life. Maybe not as long as 25, but.. still. :)

this is kinda sad yet very odd

my current cat was born on the night my old cat died and she has similar markings as our old one... i thought that was odd. also both were the runt of the litter.

i have a cat and a dog, my dog has a limp at the moment because of an infection in his leg but hes on gthese gigantic pills which seem to be at least aleviating pain.

Awww, cute kitty A9. Looks a little like my cousin F'lix. :D

Zaphod,

"Meow is not just another four letter word."

"Neither is purr."

Very good! If those blue eyes mean that somebody's siamese jumped the fence, you're in for a good ride! Hang on tight. :D

An excellent shade of blue, if I say so myself.

Also going through the "old cat just passed, and new kitten on horizon soon" phase. Now I'm going to think harder about that "Free Kittens" sign I passed earlier today. Been placating self so far with Huff's kitties for the meanwhile.

She's a cutie! Hope she's ornery!!

Actually, her eyes are a gold/brown mix, so maybe it was my blue flash that did it, heh-heh.

Yes, we are big fans of rescue leagues/shelters, since we love the mutt cats. We did consider a Mane (Maine?) Coon kitten, but would have had to wait until Christmas before the just-born kitten would have been available (too long for the current cat to be on his own, thinking that he ruled the roost). Besides, we know there will be a home for a very popular pure breed and wanted to save one slated for lethal injection.

A9 <--- big softie

Very sweet of you, and besides, who could live without a cat for any period of time? She's a very pretty kitty.

I have a cat who randomly runs around my house. It's quite interesting. I'll be sitting at my computer and the cat will go streaking by at high speed chasing absolutely nothing.

Heh, my grandma's cat lived to be 16 I do believe. Can't remember exactly, it died about 7 years ago or so. Loved that thing, it'd just run into my leg whenever it had an itch it couldn't reach. I was like it's eternal cure.

My folks have always been cat people and just like A9, we like to get them from the pound.

In a lot of ways, cats live the lifestyle that humans can only dream of. :D

There's a really good book I'd recommend for any cat owner, new or old, called Think Like a Cat. I can't recall author's name off hand and I'm too lazy to walk downstairs to get it, but you can find it easily on Amazon with the title.

I've used it often as a reference book and found it to be insightful and accurate. (A lot easier than digging through junk on the web, dare I say it!)

Among many useful things, it tells you how to introduce new cats to established cats. (I introduced a kitten to my two year old beast by the book and now they're inseperable).

So ANYway, you could easily become a two-cat household. :D

(It sounds like she's living by that book already, cats are usually too lazy to go downstairs, unless... THEY HAVE TO BE DOWNSTAIRS RIGHT NOW FOR NO APPARENT REASON - OH WAIT, THEY MEANT TO GO BACK UPSTAIRS AGAIN, QUICK, QUICK!!!)

Not that you really care, but we already are a two-cat household and always have been. Another of our reason to not wait in the purebreeb is that the 8-year old male DSH would get very comfortable being the only feline around.

Here it is, day two and they have already been found on the same couch and both of them purring! They aren't exactly doing the Yin and Yang thing, nestling in each other's tummy, but hey, give me a LITTLE time, eh?

Oh look...he figured it out!!

Just kidding A9!! Well, they are like potato chips, you can't just have one...

In ten years, we see A9 on the news as one of those people with 75 cats in the house.......

Garn, down here in the south we call that the "rips". My grandmother believed her cat's were chasing spirit's around the house playing with them.

Zaphod,

"Meow, I say meow boy."
