What else is New?

Lt. Koshic N’Dak

Helmsman | USS Arcadia

SD 0410.03

>Begin<

The starfield on the viewscreen streaked by as the Arcadia hurdled towards the “Prison Planet Risa.” Koshic meanwhile could only sit in deep thought, watching the flickering lights in bemusement.

A few months ago or at least that’s how long ago he thought it had been, he had been a Academy Professor in San Francisco. How changed his life had become now. Now he flew a starship across the universe divide.

He had been taken prisoner by the Romulans, literally stopped the flow of time, became a weapon of mass destruction, and jell-o wrestled with half-naked Klingons.

As he thought about it, he started thinking about the fourth edition of his book he had been meaning to get out for publication. Then it came to him, instead of writing a simple text book for cadets, why didn’t he write a novel about his travels on the Arcadia.

He was pretty sure every red-blooded male cadet at the Academy would read anything that had a section about jell-o wrestling and female Klingons in it.

He sighed to himself, what had he reduced himself too—writing trashy love novels—a few months ago the very idea of him writing such intellectual garbage would have been enough to make him vomit, but some how this ship—its mission—had changed him—made him…different.

As he contemplated the idea of actually writing the book, he turned his attention back to the matters at hand. The Arcadia had escaped “nothing ness” into an alternate dimension complete with Pink Klingons and Risa the Prison Planet.

They were going to go on some recklessly foolish rescue mission, sneaking in with drunken pink Klingons, and then make it back to the ship, then some how find there way back to their proper dimension—just a usual day on the Arcadia-E.

He ventured a guess that should they ever actually make it back, they’d all be getting a nice vacation—to the Federation Funny Farm.
