Settling in

"Settling in"

Log entry 07: 20 September, 2154

"The willow knows what the storm does not: that the power to endure harm outlives the power to enflict it"- Blood of the Martyr

The relief Science Officer took Sergio's place at the Science station on the bridge, as he headed down to his quarters on E-Deck. Sergio enters S-6 and sits down on his chair to feed his kitten. Mittens meowed a 'thank you' and happily went on eating his Fancy Feast. Sergio looked at the three-month-old cat eat. It sure must be nice, to not have a care in the world, like Mittens. Sergio thought to himself.

Walking over to his console, Sergio checks in on Ensign Grey's progress in restoring the contaminated protein stores. Apparently, they have appeared to have been tampered with, according to him. The protein stores have been neatly rearranged, causing a failure in the protein resequencer processors, which in turn caused Lt. Images' food poisioning on the Challenger's first warp run.

Obviously, it was sabotage, and the suspect was most logically the supposed Suliban Operative that infiltrated Engineering. It was believed the reason why the Challenger had so much trouble attaining warp five. So, why not believe that the same fellow sabotaged the food stores as well? It's only logical.

The Suliban are believed to be from the future, and when the small ship dissapeared, he did detect a temporal vortex trail eminating from the vessel just before it had left. But this mission wasn't all that bad. Sergio did get to compare the three stars of Alpha Centauri with Earth's files, fiding it to be basically the same.

Sergio had received confirmation of this from Earth, some welcoming news for a change, and now the Challenger is on its way to some new mission, to his assumption. Sergio laid down on his bed and tried to get some sleep. The bed was pretty comfortable in Starfleet standards, but the matress he found was a little too stiff for his liking. Not feeling very tired, he decided to head on up to the messhall for a bite to eat.

After waiting about ten minutes for the lift to arrive, Sergio went up to the messhall. The protein stores were still off-line until it can be restored, which probably should be in 24-48 hours. Thus, unfortunately, there wasn't much offered on the menu. Meatloaf, and Mac & Cheese, and some Coke was what he had chosen.

Sergio sat by himself by a window watching as the stars streaked by him. Sergio poured his Coke in a glass with some ice and added some of his Jack Daniels Whiskey he brought with him from his quarters. The warmth of the whiskey a welcoming feeling. He felt like he needed the boost after today. It was quite an interesting maiden voyage of the Chellenger to say the least.

Eating in silence, Sergio watched as people milled about. There was an annoucement of the latest holo-movie which will be starting in thirty minutes. An action flick, starring that new British actor. Sergio finished his meal, ordered somepopcorn and grabbed a seat in the theatre. Life on the Challenger was now beginning to feel normal for him. The movie soon started, taking Sergio away from the stresses of his job, even if it was just temporary.
