Well actually, none of those ever really annoyed me. Doctor Phlox is kinda borderline though so I'll vote for him. I'll tell you who really annoyed me was that lady cheif engineer they had on the Enterprise-D before La Forge took over. She was almost like a cross between a Vulcan, Human, and Robot. I don't guess she was in to many episodes, but anyway, she really got on my nerves.   ;)

They actually went through a couple Chief Engineers before settling on LaForge, but how he went from an Ensign to a Lt. Commander in one season is beyond me.

Yeah, true. The one I am talking about is in the Naked Time episode (or was it Naked Now?), where they encountered the same disese thing the Enterprise under Kirk had found. Wesley took over engineering, then came to the rescue by reversing the tractor beam. :-)

I think he was a Lt.(jg) when he was in ops, got promoted to full Lt. when he became the chief engineer, and got promoted to Lt. Cmdr. one season later.

:: pulls out handy dandy Star Trek TNG Fact book ::

I had to vote for Wesley Crusher...

... considering that the Enterprise D was filled with Starfleet's best and brightest crewmembers, did ya'lls know that Welsy came up with the idea they needed 7 times? What is with this?

Hey there,

Well, I picked Jake Sisko. For all of Wesley's annoying traits, at least he wasn't stupid enough to stay behind while an enemy was taking over the ship...and then get upset when the enemy wouldn't let you transmit anti-enemy news reports! I mean, give me a break.....

Yeah, that was pretty dumb.  Then again I never had much respect for journalists.  I mean, they had the Columbia going 18 times the speed of light!

You know, I wasn't alive at the time, but I remember reading somewhere about that huge blunder a newspaper made where, I think it was with Truman, they printed that the other guy won and then sent the papers out for the world to see. Now that was a blunder.

OK...  who made this "Lets Bash Journalists" day?  LOL

I for one have been a newspaper writer, a radio news editor, reporter, and anchor.  I have even assisted with producing several TV news pieces.

Yes, there are some situations in which facts are reported wrong.  But look at the majority of the cases...  News is reported 24/7.  On average on the AP (Associated Press) wire...  there is a MINIMUM of 40,000 different stories that are transmitted worldwide.  When news breaks, reporters try their best to get as much information as they can accurately with as little time as possible.  (Those of you who work on a constant deadline know what I'm talking about.  You always need your stories 5 minutes ago...)

To have one story slip just a bit out of all the others that are transmitted is not bad.  Especially when you consider also reporters are not experts in this.  In the case of the Columbia tragedy...  the reporters on the scene are not experts in the science field.  They take what information they're given by officials making statements, and everything else.  If one of the officials makes a small slip of the tongue, it's still reported because that's what they have to go on at the time.   Reporters are never an expert in any given field.  There are just too many out there.

They're a jack of all trades, master of none.  Simply because their job has them covering a shooting at one minute, a space shuttle crash the next, then a superbowl win next.  It's an exciting life...  never really knowing what you'll be doing next.  But it is a very difficult one.

And one thing else...  consider this...  how much ACCURATE information have you gotten because of the news media?  I'm willing to bet it's a heck of a lot more than inaccurate info you'd get.  :;):  Or else that news organization would not stay in business long.  hehe

I've blocked Wesley out of my mind completely, so I'd have to say Neelix.  Every time Voyager had a plot that had him in danger, I'd get all excited only to have my hopes bashed as they saved him once again.  In his defense, he was okay toward the end of the series when they toned him down a bit.

I love Phlox.  ;)

Whoops, someone hit the wrong subject for Randy there.   ;)

I thought Neelix was pretty good, but Phlox.. I don't know, but he just isn't really for my tastes. I mean he has the most ridiculous smile this side of the Neutral Zone (oh wait, that wasn't there yet), and cuts his toe nails with a buzzer thing and feeds them to his animals. Sorry, I just don't get him.

Remember, folks. They didn't make themselves hated by all Trekkies...... the writers did. ;)

But, I had to vote for Sisko. Personally, I have never much liked DS9. That, for the most part, influenced that vote.... Cheers!

Most annoying, and Janeway isn't in there???

Hands down, for me it's Janeway.  She has no command presence, she had an annoying nasal voice, she seems more interested in her pose than in the mission....

Two quotes that come to mind immediately:

From a good friend who has been a Trekkie from the beginning of TOS, while watching a discussion between Janeway and another female crewperson:

"Why do I have the feeling I'm watching a slumber party?"

And my favorite - from my daughter:

"Mother, anyone who sits in the command chair like that *deserves* to be lost in space!"

'nuf said.

I couldn't vote.. none of them were particularly annoying. Yeah, Wesley came to the rescue several times, but it was kinda neat to see someone else come up with an idea instead of Data or Riker.

I haven't seen enough DS9 to bash on Jake, tho I did have the feeling he was only there because Wesley had been a popular character.

Of the choices Neelix comes closest. I only saw a couple of seasons, and he had his moments.

I like Phlox, I think he is one of the better characters.

I think the holodoc was incredibly annoying. I absolutely loved Dr Crusher when TNG was first on the air, now I find her rather annoying.
