"A Dash for the Furture..."

September 11th, 2154 - 1530 hours

Aaron sat impatiently in the lobby of the shuttle company that would whisk him up to the Challenger's dry-dock. Sighing, he check the chronometer on the wall, and saw that he would leave any moment. Butterflies started to jumble around his stomach, as he checked his personal baggage one last time. Civilian clothes, discs, etc, were all thrown in in a mess, as he had only been contacted 48 hours previously if he would join the crew of the Challenger. He had at first thought about rejecting the offer, but with the encouragement of his parents, he finally had messaged the quartermaster back. Looking through his bag, he found his datablock, on which he had stored the list of items he had sent to the quartermaster:

-Several pairs of civilian clothes

-(2) pairs of shoes

-(70) movie discs

-(1) datablock with 100 novels and books

-(1) Holocamera, Sony brand

-(3) Holopicture frames of family

-(1) Pillow

Yep, that was all. Satisfied that he had everything, he sat back and closed his eyes, only to be awoken 3 seconds later by an announcement that his shuttle was departing in 20 minutes. He quickly walked over to a wall concole and dialed his families home. Only his mother answered. "Hey mom, just letting you know that my shuttle is about to leave." "Oh darling, keep safe up there, You'll be on my mind all day every day sweetie." "I know mom, you too. But I will be back before you know it, the nest few years will pass by quickly." "Oh, I had gotten over that fact I won't be able to speak to you very much the next few years, I had pushed it aside."

She had said the last few words, choking up, then bursting into tears. "Oh mom, Im sorry, I didn't mean to upset you." He heard the announcement again. "Mom, I have to go, I'll miss this shuttle." "::sniff:: Well then, run along Aaron! Keep safe and Good Luck Dear!" "Thanks mom, bye now!" He closed the connection and made a dash for his shuttle, and the future...
