NFL

N F L...three letters that, for the outsider, mean so little, but for the rest of us, mean so much. It's the start of another glorious season full of bone crunching football. I, for one, am excited about this season. Last year, we witnessed the New England Patriots roll over the competition and take Super Bowl 38. Now, it's a new season and all teams are, once again, on equal ground. Here are my predictions.

AFC East

*1. New England (This team will be tough to beat and has a real legitimate shot at repeating)

2. Buffalo (Will be better, but will still hang around .500)

3. NY Jets (Pennington will show some life, but the Jets will be weak on defense)

4. Miami (Better luck next year, some real bad breaks for Miami will keep them in the basement this year)

AFC North

*1. Cinncinatti (I was impressed with them last year, look for Carson Palmer to lead this team to a division title)

W2. Baltimore (Good defense by everyone but Deion will always keep this team in the hunt)

3. Pittsburgh (Improved, but this will be Cower's last year)

4. Cleveland (No, just no...can anything good come out of Ohio?)

AFC South

*1. Indianapolis (Manning will finally have his year. James will also have a bounce back season)

W2. Houston (This year's surprise, with Carr and Davis moving the offense, this team has some serious potential)

3. Tennessee (This will not be McNair's year, watch him go down sometime midway through the season.

4. Jacksonville (Too many holes...)

AFC West

*1. Kansas City (The Chiefs are just plain good, no question about it.)

2. Denver (Mile High must count for something...)

3. San Diego (Tomlinson will bring this team out of the basement, to second place.)

4. Oakland (And getting older...)

------------------------------------------------------------

NFC East

*1. New York Giants (Kurt Warner is back and will lead this team to a division title)

W2. Philadelphia (I'm not a huge Eagles fan, but I think they'll make the playoffs)

3. Dallas (The Tuna always has this team ready, their offense just isn't ready)

4. Washington (Sorry Joe, no teams succeed in the DC area, just ask Jordan)

NFC North

*1. Minnesota (Watch out for this team, they're hungry)

2. Green Bay (The Packers will fall just short this year, Farve will be brilliant, but A.Green is going to be dealing with health issues all season)

3. Detroit (Not much to say here, this team won't be a factor)

4. Chicago (Ditto)

NFC South

*1. Carolina (Great defense, tempered offense...good team)

2. New Orleans (I love McAllister...but this team just isn't good enough)

3. Tampa Bay (the glory days won't help this team this year)

4. Atlanta (Vick...smick, he's not all he's cracked up to be, especially riding the bench with another season ending injury.)

NFC West

*1. St. Louis (This might be the Rams' last huraah, but Faulk and Jackson will prove to be the best RB duo in football.)

W2. Seattle (Wild Card team this year...they're potent, will run the Rams down to the wire)

3. Arizona (Dennis Green....but not many more bright spots.)

4. San Francisco (It's so nice to see the niners lose)

*= Division Winner

W= Wildcard

AFC Championship Game:

Indianapolis at New England

Winner: Indianapolis

NFC Championship Game:

St. Louis at Minnesota

Winner: St. Louis

Super Bowl 39

St. Louis vs. Indianapolis

Winner:

Saint Louis Rams

It's on the table...what are your pathetic picks? :D

well me being from the cincinnati area i have to go with the bengals...

they did well 2 years ago after marval lewis came on the job and i cant see them regressing from last year, they didn't lose any key players(corey dillon was out to much to beconsidered key and when he was in he didn't live up to his greatness) and they are hopfully coming into the season with a confident feeling.

who dey!... dont ask

Well, as Grom so well put it, everyone is on the same level. So I have no idea who could be the big boys this season...

Ask me this question half way through the season and then we'll talk :D

You have alienated me. I am one of those rare, mythological Packer fans that live in Minnesota.

You have given me an anuerism. I must go put on my Farve jersy and stew over this.

Although, I will add this. I'm not much of a guy that covers the whole NFL, I just stick to my team, the Packers.

I think it will be a lot closer this year between our Missisippi rivals. Moss loses more Cockyness every year, which is good for the Vikings. Culpepper has finally learned that he needs to super glue his hands when he runs with the ball. It should be fun to watch.

However, The Vikes have 7 or 9...lol, 7 of 9 anyways, rookies. I can't remember the numbers, but their all starting. This could either be extremely good, because they could be breakout talents, or they could all just suck....

One last thing...

Come back to us Ricky Williams!

I could call you a fair wheather fan...but, when is the wheather ever fair in Minnesota?

::already has her Farve jersey out:: Kroells you always forget that I, too, am a die hard Packer fan. Screw what the projections say. The fact that you have to wait 33 years to get season tickets says something about the fans and this team. :D Of course, I'm not a Minnesotan, but rather a North Dakotan -- which means by default I should be a Viking fan. Much to my Father in Law's dismay, I am not. GO PACKERS ::wonders if they play in New Orleans this year::

Here are my early season picks...

AFC East

*1. New England (As much as I hate to do this…)

WC2. Buffalo (A much better team, with a great young coach, tough running backs and a proven QB, and will look to maybe get into the Wild Card Race.)

3. NY Jets (Not enough to keep up in this talent-laden division)

4. Miami (Off-season troubles AKA No Ricky Williams, and the lack of a real QB make this Danny Wandstats last season.)

AFC North

*1. Pittsburgh (Okay, so I am bit biased here, but the team finally got what they needed in the off-season in nabbing a top QB that will end up replacing Madox. With that said, they win a much improved AFC North, and no Grom, Cower's ain’t going anywhere—he’s like Joe Pa.)

2.Cinncinatti (Carson Palmer finally gets his day, but they could fall flat on their face [it’s the Bengals after all] and Palmer was notorious for his interception ratio in College, that said this is a horse race of a division)

3. Cleveland (Butch Davis re-built a dynasty at Miami, give him time and the Brown could just surprise a few people.)

4. Baltimore (The most over rated team in football)

AFC South

*1. Indianapolis (Manning and Company will have their best shot ever to win it all, don’t be surprised if Manning and Co take Mr. Lombardi Home this year. [and yes I know they lost...one loss big deal...])

2. Tennessee (Despite a lot of losses, this is a good team in a weak at the bottom division, expect Tennessee to be in the Wild Card Race.)

3. Houston (Not enough to make a run, maybe .500)

4. Jacksonville (Too many holes...and Byron Leftwich makes me sick.)

AFC West

*1. Denver (Mile High is on the rise, made a huge move in the off season and have one of the best coaches in the bizz, The Chiefs ain’t that good either.)

WC2. Kansas City (Not as good as they looked last year, but good enough to stay ahead of the other two in this division.)

3. Oakland (Norm’s my man, they’ll be better than last year, but not good enough to compete in this division.)

4.San Diego (Tomlinson hasn’t saved this team yet, and don’t look for it to happen this year, a new coach next year, with Drew Brees getting another year of experience will make this a tough team…eventually.)

------------------------------------------------------------

NFC East

*1. Philadelphia (Is this the year the Eagles win it all? Yes.)

2. Dallas (The Tuna will be in the Wild Card race.)

3. New York Giants (Kurt Warner is the most overrated QB in the league, Eli replaces him by game 3 but it won’t be enough in this division.)

4.Washington (Joe Gibbs will bring this team back to life if the moron owner, Snyder, will let him do his job…if not well…yeah.)

NFC North

*1. Minnesota (This is a tough call, I gotta go with my gut. The Vik’s win the division during the regular season, but fumble in the playoffs.)

WC2. Green Bay (The Packers are a good team, and an even better play off team. They will go deeper than the boys from Minnesota.)

3. Detroit (Could be a surprise team. Mooch has addressed the problems of last season in the off-season, but I am telling you as long as they have a kid from Rutgers starting, they won’t be a factor, next year this could be one of the toughest divisions in the NFL.)

4. Chicago (Rex Grossman. Is he doomed to the curse of all heralded Gator QB’s, we’ll see. )

NFC South

*1. Atlanta (Vick...isn’t all this team is about, Jim Mora has put together a solid team that can win with out Vick, if he is healthy, they win this division with ease, if not well this is a toss up division.)

2. New Orleans (A little offense goes a long way in this division.)

3. Carolina (Had a Cinderella season last year, but don’t count on it again—ask the Ravens about the last time they went to the Super Bowl and what happened the next year.)

4. Tampa Bay (No Offense spells another year in the cellar, didn’t this team win a Super Bowl?)

NFC West

*1. St. Louis (Marc Bulger’s my boy—the Rams finally learn how to actually play football.)

WC2. Seattle (Mike Holmgren knows how to coach football, they have a lot of talent and could give the Rams everything they want.)

3. San Francisco (Ericson needs to go back to coaching college football, he was good at that, the Niners have just to many question marks, but are better than Cards.)

4. Arizona (Dennis Green doesn’t have enough talent to compete.)

Ehh, rugby's better. No helmets, no pads, and no paychecks over half a million. :D

actually, America has a decent rugby team. Not as good as Britian's or Australia's, but hey, for a sport we don't even know exists, that's pretty good.

There is Canadian Football. I've never seen it but I understand it has elements of American football, soccer, and rugby.
