FEATURES:

The Centaur Class entered production in the early part of the 24th Century. The ship was initially designed to serve as a scout and act as a support vessel during fleet maneuvers. They were designed to be small an agile, featuring only ten decks though holding an overall feel similar to that found on a Miranda Class vessel. Despite decades of upgrades, ships of this class are rarely used for long duration missions and are normally found near starbases.

The class was heavily involved in the Dominion War. With over four hundred constructed by the time of the war's start, only sixty were lost during the conflict. These losses were far less than some modern vessels. As a result, a preliminary plan to retire the class in favor of updated Saber class ships has been canceled. All remaining ships of this class have been refitted following the end of the war, featuring a weapons package and updated power distribution grid which should allow the vessels to remain comparable to light/medium cruisers for another twenty years.

OTHER INFORMATION: U.S.S. LEWIS

SERVICE RECORD: Effective September 3, 2380 (Stardate 0409.03), the U.S.S. Lewis was placed under the command of Commander GromVik. The ship was assigned to serve as the flagship for Rear Admiral Frederic Meve, Commanding Officer, Cardassian Sector.
