"The Sci with a Cutlass and phaser"

Zack the science guy was suddently blinded by an explosion, well nearly everyone did that was in the conference room. After the explosion had subsided he reluctantly picked up the cutlass then Xavier tossed him a phaser, he nearly missed but he was able to catch it on time.

 

Zack stumbled backwards a few steps and looked around him. He and 2 other officers were keeping the piece no one except the 3 officers had weapons in their hands. Admiral Day was calmly making sure that every one else were calm therefore impossible to make a stupid mistake -- like firing at phaser at an innocent individual in this room.

 

Zack took a deep breath and concentrated on the movements on all the occupents in the round table, they seem to be relaxed and calm taking all this in which was good. No one was giving the impression that they wanted a war which was also good.

 

He looked at Xavier Crispen, and give him a look that said "Why do i do with this?" and he nodded to the cutlass.

 

"The pointy end goes into the enemy not you." The response was humorous but it was useful, Zack quickly adjusted his footing and the phaser in his hand. Then looked around the room again, every thing was as it was before, calm and peaceful.

 

Zack's mind was racing, he was a fresh-out-of-the-academy ensign and was assigned to the science department. He wanted something to do besides hiding in the science labs or sickbay he got his orders from the acting chief and now he was defending the admiral.

 

He smirked and thought. How did i manage this in 2 weeks. But he didn't care, all officers were cross trained in all hand-to-hand combat and he was ready, he had a phaser and two other allies by his side. He looked at his hands and wondered if he really needed to use the weapons, he hoped this would resolve quickly and hopefully with out bloodshed. The crowd was still murmuring among themselves on theories and speculations on what might happened. Zack ignored everything but the lives that may be at risk. The proof?

 

The phaser and cutlass was still in his hands ...
