Within Reach

"Within Reach"

Log entry 11: SD 10408.21

The water and slime of the river seemed to be glistening on Koga's massive body, as he, Vosh and Pexil made their way through the forest of their new location. After their make-shift log raft fell apart on them in the middle of the lake (or river, or whatever) Koga briefly thought their journey to the Extraction Point would end then and there. However, the galant trio managed to reassemble their ailing craft just enough to render it sea-worthy again.

But still -- wet, soggy, and slimy Koga still felt a bit miffed of their recent misfortunes. The soaking wet pack he was hauling on his back felt ten times heavier now, draining away his already low energy reserves. But, there is some good news to be happy about, and make him forget about his premature bath. Having reaching the other side of the lake, Vosh, Koga and Pexil are that much closer to the etraction point. Only mere kilometres away, so close.

Pretty soon, Koga would be back in the comforts of the Talon, sitting in his quarters sipping a nice cold glass of ale, in a nice warm change of clothes after nice, long hot sonic shower. Ahh.. that would be so nice right about now, Koga thought to himself. The idea of sonic showers, warm clothes or even ale totally alien to him on this awful god forsaken planet.

Wiping away some green algae from his dip in the river from his forehead, Koga now just wants to leave this place. He follows Vosh, and Pixel along the forest thick with branches and roots. His feelings truly intensify when Koga's leg gets snagged on a branch, denoted with a large ripping sound. A small blob of green blood soon trickling down his leg. "Ahh, Elements!" Koga uttered disdainly.

Letting it alone Koga kept following Vosh, and Pexil, knowing he could easily patch it up on the Talon. He silently followed the two until Vosh held a hand signal, signalling them to stop. Amidst the sounds of the forest, he heard footsteps close in front of him. Koga felt his heart jump then and there. Oh Elements, please don't let that be Phishore, Koga prayed to himself and the Elements.

He moved to the left of the assailant and watched as Vosh approached behind him with his disruptor drawn. Unsheathing his kaleh, he would not lose without a fight. Even if it is to the death. But pretty soon, it was pretty self evident that the mystery figure wasn't Phishore. Koga emerged from the bush, and towards Vosh.

He definately wasn't Phishore, unless he shrank about 30 centimetres from the last time he saw him.

It was later confirmed that he was actually the Maenak Agrie tr'Lahhir. Koga let out a big sigh of relief and thanked the Elements for their fortunes and new comrade. So with the four of them making their way to the extraction point, the proverbial finish lines was now.. definately within reach.
