What is you favorite opera?

29 posts in this topic

What about operettas? I love Gilbert and Sullivan!

Here here!

Light Operas, like those by Gilbert and Sullivan, are far more entertaining than more serioues operas. As Huff aludded to, not all Gilbert and Sullivan productions were sucessful, but some of my favorites include "Pirates of Penzance," "HMS Pinafore," "Yeoman of the Guard," "Trial By Jury" and yes, "Patience."

Has anyone seen "Cox and Box" performed as well?

Fidelio, by far. Followed by Pagliacci. And I like the music from The Magic Flute, though I've never seen a performance of it. On the flip side, I love the story of Der Ring des Nibelungen, but I'm not a fan of Wagner's music.
