Helpful Sites For Different Dpeartments: Medical

Heya,

As usual i was sitting around doing nothing remotely interesting and as usual i started having crazy thoughts about simming. I remembered that when I first joined my advanced sim i was kinda spooked. I had very little knowledge of what to do as a starfleet medical officer as the academy sims don't go too detailed as they're more for training playing skills.

Anywho i thought it would be cool that to help new players we have a bunch of posts. One for each department giving a link to some helpful website or something else that could help.

Just a thought.

Anyway just to get the ball rolling ::puts up flag:: i claim this post for medical!

The Starfleet Medical “Five Minute Clinical Consult”

http://www.fsgsims.com/ussaurora/intro.htm

This site has a list of interesting info on different species medical facts, tools and procedures. In my early days it was most helpful. :P

Wow, this is great. Ecspecially if I end up being medical on a ship. Trust me, this info should be very useful. If it can actually keep me from looking like an ass, this thing has to be a holy grail.

:P I just read the magazine title. FASG. Type that five times fast.

Hmm... ::pokes around the site a bit curiously::

I played medical officers for several years, and found that having some real medical sites handy was useful -- WebMD is basic and usually easy to follow, eMedicine.com is about emergency medicine but very technical, and Gray's Anatomy is great for pulling impressive sounding jargon out but otherwise a little dense for sim use. ;-) Try 'medical reference' in your favorite search engine.

That's quite interesting to say the least.

:P Or Starfleet Security. "Five minute security guide."

AKA "Phun with phaser's." or "Compression rifle an ASEC's best friend."

Zaphod,

This is certainly not a "five minute guide to engineering" BUT it is a highly comprehensive site of Trek technology and a VERY useful techbabble guide site. I swear by it. The Daystrom Institute Of Science And Technology.
