Enterprise

I noticed the whole discussion about "Stigma" on the boards, but it was closed before I could put my 2c in, so here goes:

The episode may not have had the best acting (can't remember a Trek that had that), nor the best writing ("Shuttlepod One?"), but it was a prime example of what Star Trek is all about.  Yes, the "moral" was transparent (remember the TOS episode about the black-on-the-right-side-white-on-the-left and vice versa people? or the TNG about the genderless people?).  But, from what I saw on these boards, it got us all thinking about its message,  discussing it, and hopefully, rethinking our positions on the issues it presented (and those that come from the discussion).  What does it mean to be tolerant or intolerant of another? Accepting or reviling? In fear of what the are, what they do, what they represent? and so on...

If Enterprise had more episodes like that, and less mindless drivel ("A Night in Sickbay" comes to mind immediately), I would be much happier giving up an hour a week to watch it.

Just my two cents...

Why was the other topic closed?

Oh, and I'll post my opinion as soon as I see the episode...

The other topic was closed because it started getting a little too far off topic and that it had the potential to be more problems than it was worth.

I'm not blaming anyone for anything...  but it was just a preventative measure to make sure the boards stay clean, fun, and such.  ;)  Ya'll are welcome to discuss anything ya like...  but when I think things are starting to move in a direction where there might be problems I will step in and nudge us in another direction.

Hope ya don't mind.  I just want to make sure these boards remain a fun place for us all to hang out.

Thanks for understanding!!!

Yes, Webmaster, thank you for the prompt action.  We want the Boards to be a fun place and one where people can discuss Star Trek and other issues of interest.  I'm all for spirited debate (even about my physical appearance, oy!) but there is a point where friendly commentary can turn into something uglier.  That's not where we want to be.  Thanks!

Yes, let's go back to that screw protruding from your head.  ;)

Dac
