When is a Sovak, not a Sovak

::Sitting in his Ready Room, watching the ship fly toward uncharted territory at the controls of no one in particular::

Maybe I've watched too many 20th Century 2Ds about detective work, but I'm letting him "stew" in the brig for a while to see if it makes him/them more pliant. Then again, the more time I waste, the farther along we go, so I can't wait TOO long.

So, Someone or something has taken up residence inside Captain Sovak and it is obviously linked to the takeover of the ship's navigation. We found that orders we "received" from HQ must have been faked by Sovak and we are almost to the edge of known space on a high speed journey pointed away. The systems have been locked in place and there are a variety of dangerous subsystems rigged to destroy the ship if we attempt to take over control again or alter course. Engineering and Science have found a number of nexus points but no control system for them, so as much as we see the evidence of the sabotage, we cannot cleanly find a way to disable it.

At the same time, Sovak continues to switch back and forth between his normal psyche and an extraordinarily rigid, almost machinelike persona. Yet, this personality also exhibits flashes of intense temper and rage that make it an unstable force to be bargained with.

So, I have put him in the brig for now, with all ship's feeds cut off. I have asked Security to change the access codes that were special to him and I have changed mine, just in case. I am continuing to push Engineering and Science for an answer to the puzzle of how my ship has become a flying bomb. That leaves just myself and Counselor Roget to work on Sovak/etc. and see if there is something it wants, besides the ship.

I've already heard grumblings from some that we should just space the Captain to save the ship. I have strong reservations both for the safety of the booby-traps and the live of my First Officer. This is another of my reasons to keep him in the brig - to keep him safe.

Well, I think it's time to see if he... it is ready to talk again. If not - I guess Science gets new star systems to map...
