Wow. By my calculations I would have been downloading some of his music when he died. Truly a sad day.

I think STSF needs an obituaries section all to its own with all these death notices.

So the old composer dies, and as he's being shown around hell by the devil, he sees many familiar faces. Everyone in hell is wading knee deep in [crap], but he decides this isn't so bad, since he sees so many familiar musician faces and everyone is happy and trading stories of the old days. He decides hell will be alright afterall, when the devil claps his hands and shouts, "Okay everyone! Break's over! Back on your heads!"

I'm sure I'll meet up with Mr. Goldsmith someday, and we can chat during breaks. ;)

Another person to add to that growing list of recent deaths . . . :P

I loved the themes to TNG and Voyager, and although I didn't like Insurrection as much as First Contact, it had great music.

reminds me of a quote from road to perdition

"May you get to heaven an hour before the devil knows you're dead"

At least it cuts down on office gossip. :P

Not necessarily, I'll bet that certain instant messengers have gone to hell. :P

That is very sad. We lost yet another great one in the Star Trek community. R.I.P. Jerry Goldsmith.

Hey there,

Indeed, very sad. I was a big fan of his musical style and he will be missed. There are very few solid musical composers in Hollywood who can create scores that really bring a movie together. Jerry Goldsmith was one of them. Movies such as "Tora! Tora! Tora!" or "Air Force One" could have been horrible if not for the emotion the music helped to show.

Indeed a great loss.
