Summer Stories

33 posts in this topic

I just wanted to say to everyone and wish everyone a continually great summer. Being that I haven't simmed in so long I am afraid when I start again I will be rusty (for all our sakes, lets hope not :D ). And for those that I have simmed with...I miss you guys...and I especially miss the arcadia

A big part of the reason I haven't been simming is because I have received a wonderful fellowship in Long Island, NY doing research in marine biology. So basically I do research during the week and go to the beach every weekend (and get paid for it too :) ). the only downside I can think of is that I have no computer access late at night to play ::sniff, sniff::

Anyone else care to share their summer happenings?

Best of wishes,

Anika Pierce

Well, hey Anika! We all miss you too on the Arc. Not the same without you. :0 Anyways.. glad to know you're keeping busy, that definately does sound interesting indeed. :D Anyways.. I don't really have too much to share over my summer, since I've spent the all of it here.. Oh well. Boring summer, but I am hopeful that I'll take that trip roadtrip to the US (dunno where, maybe Chicago) though. Anyways, do have a great summer everyone :)

Actually, I just returned from a trip to Chicago.

My company paid all my expenses to go to a week-long accounting conference. (My bill came to almost $3,500 not counting my salary for the week. So much for accountants being penny-pinchers.) One thing I always wanted to do was see the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. It was about a mile from the hotel so during a break I just walked on over.

I tried to get a picture of it but a security guard wouldn't let me. Fortunately the Sears Tower was about a block away so I simply went to the top and got a picture from there. :D

Lets see summer. oh boy. I spend my time either working by the beach or sitting next to my parents pool with my family. I love it. To me summer means being outside by the water.

:D Is everybody an accountant? :)

I've been learning PHP and moving my website to a better server, plus I joined STSF which means that even if I'd had a life before this summer (which I didn't) then it's gone now.

I took my first plane trip from Thunder Bay (my hometown) down to Waterloo, Ontario, on the 6th, to stay with my grandparents. Having DSL at home, their dial-up Internet connection is a bit of a shock for me.

Then I had to miss Aegis last night so we could drive into Toronto and see the Jays lose. It wasn't a bad experience, but obviously I'd be happier to see them win.

I fly home on the 27th, and then I plan to stay in my house for the rest of the summer, occasionally venturing into the wide, wide world for things like haircuts and ice cream cones.

The Blue Jays winning? Now, there's a pretty rare event. ::sniffs, remembering the Jays' glory years of 1991-92 and 92-93.::

Okay! (repeat)

Blue Jays! (repeat)

LET'S PLAY BALL!...

Hi Anika. Hmmm, what have I been doing this summer? Sim, eat, sim, work, sim, sleep a little, sim, talk on the phone, sim, and so forth. Planning a trip cross country later this summer to visit Angie5. That's been the extent of my summer so far.

Zaphod,

"You will be assimilated, meow."

Hey Anika,

Having lived off of the Long Island Sound in CT for most of my life, I think what you're doing is really cool!

My summer? Let's just say that it's kept me far away from my computer. Between taking a class, working full time and my girlfriend visiting from Indiana, I haven't had much free time. Still, it's been wonderful to be so busy. :D

Grom, I love it here in Stony Brook. And getting to go on boats in the Great South Bay and calling it work is wonderful :D

I thought the only people who had summers were kids and school teachers :D

The joys of teaching. :D

Hmmm... lets leave it as I was in a government program and had to hop from country to country. Also, I got (what did they call it when you get stuck in the airport? I think it was layed or something like that,so I'll just say) layed in an airport twice, and went celebrity hunting. Oh, and I hung with my gangsta friends in San Fransico.

Okay, so I made the last one up.
