Hmm . . . how else can I say welcome . . . how about bienvenue? French as a second language, eh.

Have fun and try not to use many run-on sentences as they get annoying and people my thwrap you for it which is quite painful actually if you receive multiple thwraps speaking from experience.

:D

Ssssooooo.... ummm.... how do I get started? I guess I look at the schedule for Starfleet Academy... but that's a guess... I'm really not sure how I make my character or how I get started with the Academy. So like... pretend I'm stupid.

Hey there,

Your right in your guess. Just check out the schedule and find an Academy which is taking place at a time you can attend. Then, show up about five minutes before and follow the on screen instructions. :D

I'd also suggest taking a glance at the Help section and the FAQ that is part of that area. :)

Yeah, also.. don't worry about making up a character until you actually graduate from Academy. Most academies, are totally new missions each week, and don't really focus in on chracter development like advanced sims. Use the Academy to fine tune your simming skills, as that is much more important than character, and have fun. :)

Can a GM be a Q?

Hmm, there's an idea for a future plot!! Hee hee......

Basically, we want you to focus on the mechanics of the sim, and not being a species that would be in conflict with what would be allowed on a Federation/Klingon/Rihannsu sim. The GM of an Academy, could run the current Academy plot however, as anything that would fit the plot. It's all to give the new player a grasp of how to work with others, using the proper conventions and show how action ::walks to the turbolift::, speaking <AMO> I'm heading to the turbolift.

or Action Statement from the GM is put to the screen. ACTION> The AT beams to sickbay.

Lol ok. Just thoughts going through my head. :D

My head is also very porous. Thoughts go straight through it day and night, I usually manage to hold onto only the very stupid or the very unusual ones.

Hey, I'm here to ignore stupid comments made by Tachyon and to tell you that you can develop your character while in the academy. While in the Academy I developed that my character had some Vulcan blood in her and that she was fond of Tribbles. It's also good to practice at logs before you go to Advanced sims, so why not practice while you're in the Academy.

Ooh... Q GM's... you're so going to fit in with ideas like that...

As for your elfin name thing... no comment.

Hey there,

I don't think anyone says there's anything wrong with that. However, you need to keep in mind quite a few things regarding actual "characters" in the Academy:

  • First, once you board an advanced sim, your character biography will have to be approved by the GMs there. This may mean, for example, that pet tribble you had in the Academy has to go or being the cousin of Admiral Janeway isn't going to be acceptable. As long as you understand that once you get aboard an advanced sim you may have to change everything, it's fine.
  • Often times, Academy GMs see everyone as being human while playing. This means that everyone is on equal footing and individual traits that one might find useful in a species aren't present, cause everyone is exactly the same. That exists many times to help maintain an equal footing among all the Cadets and it helps the GMs to judge performance.

I only told the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the slightly altered version of the truth.

Besides, I don't head up the stupid comments department. I'm just the particle that got stuck on the intergalactic windshield of the turf farm.

I really have to stop speaking in metaphors . . . :: goes off to see what he can do about that::

Lol.

I'm liking this.

Heh I don't like tribbles myself so that much shouldn't be a problem. I was thinking more along the lines of Picard's long lost little sister's son by a Vulcan spy on Romulus with an ancient omnipotent species of bluebird for a pet and an obsessive idolization of Tasha Yar. *greedy grin*

I don't believe in stupid comments. I hope that doesn't come back to me one day.

And lastly: I hope I haven't made too good a first impression. If so I can only look bad from here on out.

:D

Well.... Beren Saralonde is probably not really my Elven name. I went to the site I got it from and typed my name in and it came out Angrod Telemnar. The problem with that is that my best friend's name also came out as Telemnar. So that was bogus and to shake it up I put Angrod Telemnar in there as my real name and it came out Beren Saralonde. And there ya go. It isn't really my name, but it sounds good and if you don't like it you can go peel apples.
