Welcome Narendra84!!

The first thing you need to do is register an email that you will sim under at  www.startrek.com  After you've done that, come back here and read the HELP, RULES and SCHEDULE secitons.  Many of your questions will be answered in those sections.

Once you've found an Academy time that fits your schedule, come and play!  Introduce yourself to the GMs and have fun!  Look forward to seeing you in the holodeck soon.

Dac

Just because ya're not a GM does not mean ya're not able to say hello and help answer questions here on the boards.   :)

Please feel free to jump in with anything that ya might be able to contribute.

And a big hearty welcome to narendra84!  ;)   If ya have any questions, please feel free to let us know.

Welcome Narendra84! Great to have you here.

Like Dac said, I would check out the Help/How-to sim page of this web-site (http://www.stsf.net/howto.php) for the basics of how to sim.

I particurally like the Wednesday night academy sim, as long as no one spills anything on Dac's shoes.  :;):  Another word of advice would be to have fun! Follow the general rules and guidelines, but don't stress yourself out doing it. The main goal of simming is to have fun and be creative!

Look forward to seeing you in the holodeck soon! :cool:

::smiles benevolently:: How quickly some learn ... now teach the others and we might actually LIVE through through an Academy  :wink:

Dac, every wednesday night someone dies. Last week it was Jami, and then last night it was the whole ship. These cadets can't learn how to get medical attention if they never get a chance to go to sickbay. ::smiles:: But hey, I graduated because Jami died (or just got off the bridge)! ;)

Many many MANY years ago...  (back in the dark ages)...  when I was first graduated...

I was the assistant engineer...  the ship blew up, and it was my fault.  But I was still graduated.  ;)

What happens as far as the plot goes it not necessarily important in being graduated.  It's how you play.  If you show creativity with your role, stay within the guidelines laid out by the GMs (following the actions and the story line),  and try to keep active even when not in the main action sequence...  ya stand a very good chance of getting the GM's attention.

It does not matter if ya saved the day, or was responsible for brining doom and destruction to everyone.  :)

for the last couple of academy sims i went to i went with the whole "we have to act to save an innocent life!" thing as a security officer, i think i'll try another position and be less "OH MY GOD NOOOOOOO", melodramatic

Boost, yopu might want to try something that I did in the academy. When you are gonna sim, instead of using the same character  with the same species, you can change the species of your character each time. That way not only are you trying a position, but you are also trying a species.

Smith ;)

yeah but dumbass, if by some miracle you DID survive, your name would break the laws of physics and cause the end the world as we know it! think of the children! oh won't somebody please think of the children?!

Break the laws of physics?  Only Qs and Chief Engineers can do that.  What *I* want is a way to breat the ACTION laws!

the action laws and physics have a lot in common, they are defined by old men with white hair and big moustaches who speak with german accents and make up formulas including the letter e.

example e=mc2

e=living ensigns or cadets  11:00 = training sim ends

(At point 11:00 e = 0)

no, some actions are controled by short, wrinkly, pale, bald, senile, and fat commodores, example Atr- umm, Edward Jellico!

Now look, can we get my description to at least be consistent!!!?  I don't recall short or senile.  I remember being old, fat, bald, pale-skinned, cheesy and having bad breath! So I think... uhmm, jeesh, so nice of me to clarify it, eh?  ::sigh:: I guess we can throw in senile now, eh?

::wanders away, muttering:: Now where did I leave my glasses....

Maybe you left them next to your math book and note pad?  The one with the little "e's" drawn everywhere on it.   ;)

ROFLMAO!!

We shall call 11 PM ET the Event Horizon beyond which no living matter exists.  Starships, ensigns, cadets... all disappear upon its boundry, sucked into a void only they know the definition of.  Is it an alternate universe that rains donuts?  A place where Action statements have no effect?  And does it occasionally spit back out what it doesn't like, or does it reset the next day at 10 PM ET to yet another iteration of the infinite realities we shall call a = academy sims?

ok, I have all the calculations complete, M= all matter A= Academy D= Dacotah T= Torpedo

at the beginning of the sim, things look like this:

A=60 M=Existent D=:) T=not detonated

in the middle:

A= 30 M=Some what there D=  :)  T=not detonated

at the end:

A= 0 M= 0 D=  :D  T= Boom

so  A=60=M=100%-60A= :) D+T=0% of M=0A (end of sim)
