1.) As an online TREK RPG, is it all chat typing? With established times to meet?

Yes, it is. Each sim within this group meets at a certain time each week, in a chat room which you can acess via the Live Chat link. Check the About Us, Help, and Rules section for more information. Check the Schedule for the times of STSF Academies and Advanced sims.

Well let me be the first to pimp out a sim...

 

Sky Harbor Aegis has the deep kind of stories that could only be found out near Cardassia prime. Our important location means that our station is always bustling with people with different motives and agendas. However we aren't a truck station, far from it, we are the centre of starfleet operations in the area as well as possessing a fine starship the Pandora's Box. The ship allows us to be mobile and also lets us open up a box of whoop-ass on anyone who threatens the federation. With a fine crew including an Andorian Admiral, an El-Aurian Captain, a Betazoid first officer and a whole cast of wacky people. Sky Harbor Aegis is simply the finest the STSF fleet has to offer.

what is the best rpg to join?

There are plenty of sims within STSF to choose from, but it all depends on your preferences, like Images said if you like Intergalactic Truckstops, then Sky Harbour Aegis might be the place for you, but we also have a TOS era sim, the USS Hood, a Klingon sim, the IKC Qob/Lakota, a Rihannsu (Romulan)sim, the RES Talon.. and traditional Federation ship type sims.

 

What I'd reccomend, if you want to play, is attend our academies, and watch a few of the advanced sims.. (key word.. watch!) to see which sim you like best. You can also PM the people running the sims, to see what posts are open, or to see what the simming style of the ship is like. Each ship has their own particular style.. some finish missions fast.. within a few weeks, whilst others linger on for a few months, or even longer. Just depends on your tastes. Remember though, as they are advanced sims, you must first graduate from Academy before you can be posted an assignment. :)

 

As for a favourite.. that's hard to say when I'm on 4 of the 10 ships here, lol. :D

Edit: also, you might wana click on the Schedule Page and see that websites, of the sims.. see what they have to offer. (and in most cases, see what's open).

Excalibur is the best sim...but you only want to join up with them if you want to play with the best.

 

Most prefer not to join Excalibur, because it pretty much puts all the other sims to shame and ruins the experience of the other sims for them.

I remember my days on the Excal, it's the only place where one can sim with a Klingon, three Vulcans (at the time), a Ferengi and a giant floating dolphin (delpin) :) Good times, good times.. ::sniff::

Yes, sure...they claim to do black ops but no one has any proof to back up that claim. :D

 

As for the best sims, Aegis is up there...and then there is Reaent. I won't get into the bickering with everyone else, there's no need. I'll let the sim speak for itself. :)

No, no, no. This is all wrong. The Hood is the best sim.

 

How can you not love a sim that takes place during the TOS era, and a sim in which you eat donuts and drink coffee all the time! :)

I must concur.. Excal was my very, very, very, very, very first sim EVER. And I mean, way back. And it rocked then. I am most certain it probably rocks now as well. :)

 

(And on an unrelated note..my kitty really loves chasing the mouse cursor as I surf the boards.. ha, what a mouser. ;P)

This may be treason (Sorry Huff, I love your sim too :D ) But the Talon is my favorite...I really enjoy it, and I hate it when I miss because the crew totally Rocks! (Go Dak Goon Squad! ) :)

 

All of the Sims here that I have been on have been a lot of fun...maybe thats why I am on five of them :)

If I were not Vulcan, I would resent the fact noone suggested the Republic...a fine Galaxy class vessel, that hasnt been destroyed for about three or four weeks now..

(If your curious, read the mission synopsis for the last few missions) Actually, I believe the Republic is one of the oldest and best sims around...but we don't act our age (see Hans and Cosmo :) ) :)

 

One word of advice, though...don't mention flea collars.... :D trust me...

The Talon is far superior in EVERY sense of the word...na doughnuts, na bus stops...just adventure and glory for the Empire.

First Cosmo is a Human and on the Hood (How Dare you call me a Human...you...you green blooded :P ) And the Republic is a wonderfully fun vessel that I do throughily enjoy.

 

But as I said all of the sims here at STSF are wonderful B)
