The Package: Delivery, Part IV

Sub-Commander Khevio

Captain | VSS T’Pa

Stardate 0407.01

>Begin Log<

Khevio’s shuttle finally reached Earth orbit and began heading towards the T’Pa.

“Sub-Commander, we have arrived and are beginning landing procedures with the T’Pa.” Ensign E’Mak said.

“Thank you.”

Khevio straightened his tunic. In one hand he held a ticking time bomb. He had gotten some of the live feed from Earth. It had been most turbulent during his time away, and what was in his hands was likely to magnify that.

Tovek stood rigidly on the bridge of the T’Pa looking out the view screen. Though it had been 4 hours after the initial announcements of the death count, he still was concerned. Concerned that more deaths would pile up, that the war seemed inevitable.

Khevio's shuttle landed in the T'Pa's Main Shuttle bay and Khevio, along with Ensign E'Mak headed out of it and towards the Bridge. A few minutes latter, Khevio stepped out on the Bridge of the T'Pa, E'Mak in tow.

“Ambassador, I must speak to you, in private,” Khevio said looking at the Ambassador.

Tovek turned; his mind was too loose with ideas and thoughts. He stared at the sub-commander and the PADD in his hands. He thought for a minute and realized what it was. He nodded and motioned the sub-commander to E'Shok's office.

Khevio walked quickly and with a purpose towards the office of the now deceased E'Shok. E'Mak took up his station just outside the door, making sure no one disturbed them. After they were both inside Khevio looked gravely to Tovek, who stood by the window, Earth rotating below.

“Ambassador, I have grave and troublesome news,” Khevio said placing the PADD on the now deceased E’Shok’s desk.

Tovek turned. "What is it?"

"This is a recording from a Denubulian freighter that was near the T'Kel. It shows...It shows....look for yourself..." Khevio caught his emotion sifting through his voice, he tried to calm them.

Tovek walked to the desk slowly and turned the padd so he could read the words and what he read disturbed him.

"I have authenticated the Recording myself, as well as the location of the Freighter at the time of the explosion. As the humans the say, its the real McCoy," Khevio said seeing the look on Tovek’s face.

Tovek nodded slowly. "Where did you come across with this data?"

"A routine border search...of the Freighter showed that it had been present in the Sol system at the time of the destruction of the T'Kel. That is from the ships sensors logs, they show no sign of being tampered with."

Tovek waited a moment, still deep in thought. "which boarder was it?"

Khevio hesitated a second, he had wanted to keep the Romulans out of this. "Ambassador, for several months now I have been in contact with an Agent of the Romulan Star Empire, he has provided me with useful information on Romulan fleet movements and other information about his Empire, he contacted me with this information as well. I trust him implicitly..."

The Ambassador's face went blank.

"I have double checked the authenticity of this tape many times on the way here from Vulcan. The tape is legitimate."

Tovek let the message sink in to his mind. "Romulans ..."

"Romulans…" he repeated.

"Yes Ambassador, the Romulans...."

The Ambassador was speechless.

"All of the facts point to the Andorians, this tape proves it beyond a shadow of doubt," he reached down and played the tape of the T'Kel exploding, the small Andorian shuttle in the background making its escape. "I was skeptical at first, why would the Romulans want to help us? But I can find nothing to show any ulterior motives."

The Ambassador's face became more of a blank as he saw the image of the T'Kel blown to pieces and a small craft of Andorian origin running away.

"Thank you. Sub-Commander. As much as I would like to believe it is the Andorians who did this, it could be, trap from…the Romulans...” he paused still getting used to the idea of Romulans being involved, then continued. "However..."

Khevio lifted his brows, "Ambassador?"

"As the current situation escalate, the blockade, the numerous ships in this system. This suggests that the Andorians are prepared to invade the Terran world,” Tovek said, "and the source of the destruction of the T'Kel seems all too obvious."

"Perhaps this information could be used to...bargain with them?" Khevio said thinking out loud.

"If used correctly we maybe able to prevent this,” Tovek said, "Perhaps."

"I might also warn that we should...make an omission of the source of this information. A war with the Romulans would be costly"

"We cannot omit anything any more, nothing is what it seems to be any more. I do not trust the Romulans nor the Andorians. But if any of them have alterior motives we must find them."

"Agreed."

Tovek nodded and stepped to the window again. The Earth was still rotating peacefully below. “Hopefully soon, all this will be resolved with out bloodshed. But now, with the Romulan factor it maybe more difficult.”

"One more thing, Ambassador?

Tovek turned. "Yes?"

"Shall I inform the High Council of my findings, perhaps via...sub-space communications?" Khevio said lifting his brow.

Tovek thought about this potential. Perhaps he didn't have to set up a diplomatic relation with the Andorians just yet. Perhaps the subspace message would be clear enough. "Proceed with it Sub commander.

"Very-well,” Khevio added, “ It would be a shame if the Andorians...intercepted the Communiqué, no?"

"Very shameful, very shameful indeed," Tovek nodded.

"I shall see to the message at once, Ambassador. I assume that I am to assume command of the T'Pa?"

"Yes you have command of the ship. Congratulations Khevio, although I wish it could have been under better circumstances."

"Agreed. If you will excuse me Ambassador, I have much to do."

Khevio bowed to the Ambassador and exited what was now his office and onto the bridge.

Tovek looked out the window once more. "And so this game of charades begins"
