34 posts in this topic

Alright people so help me out here. I live on the West Coast everything on this page is on East Coast time. Well...I kinda suck with time I use digital clocks and then I have the hardest time setting them.(Can we say that daylight savings is really stressful for me)Anyway can someone tell me what time it is. I mean the sim time or even the time diffrence I could try to work on the convertion. But please I am tired of arriving to sims an hour before or an hour late so HELP me. I am so confused

Well, it's pretty easy once you get used to it. Rememebr that Eastern Standard Time is 3 hours ahead of Pacific. So if an Academy starts at 10PM EST, it starts at 7PM PST. Look over the schedule and subtract by 3 hours. It's in EST, cuz the majority of us here are at EST. Or if you still have problems then use time conversion sites such as this one to help you out. Welcome to STSF, and have fun.

Subtract 3. 11 pm Est is 8 pm in Los Angeles.

If you look at the time I posted this message, it should display relative to your local time. At this moment, it is 12:50 am Est (New York), 11:50 pm in Chicago (Est - 1), 10:50 pm in Denver (Est - 2), and 9:50 pm in Sacramento (Est - 3). Find the time that matches yours and you'll know the difference.

I went through all that because parts of Arizona don't observe daylight savings time, so they bounce back and forth between Denver and Los Angeles time.

If all else fails, try www.timezoneconverter.com

I personally have my own Daylight Moose Time, which puts me eternally ten minutes behind any clock. : )

Well, you could just look at the Schedule. it list the time in PST right under ET.

Hope this helps  or you could just subtract 3.

Thanks Moose....I didn't know that. See, you can learn something new everyday!

Parts of Indiana and Indianapolis do the same silly thing.....

Hey there,

As others have mentioned, if you look at the Schedule page you'll find the times listed in both Eastern and Pacific. :P

I'd also direct your attention to the FAQ under the Help section, specifically the question I don't live on the East coast of the United States! Can I still play? When are the games?

Hey there,

They should be...took a year and a half to develop that part of the website.

Oh, I figured one out.

I have a ship on another site that I want to bring to the STSF. How do I go about doing so?

<<Oh, and if it hasn't been answered yet, can you answer it. I actually want to know the answer>>

Oh, and here's another question.

What if I'm a Lt. on the USS Arcadia, and I want to transfer to another ship. Do I move down a rank? And what if I'm an Ensign on the Arcadia and transfer to another ship or starbase. Do I become a midshipman, or do i stay an Ensign? And what if I'm a midshipman on Aegis, and I transfer to Arcadia. Do I stay a midshipman, am I moved down a rank, or am I moved up a rank since they don't have midshipmans? And does anyone understand what I just said?

Nobody understands what you say.

The way I understand it (not your questions, but the answers to your unintelligible questions), when joining another Advanced sim you start at whatever the entry-level rank happens to be, even if it is potato.

I should rephrase that. It should be transfering characters from one sim to another.

To answer that question: If you have a Lieutenant ranking on the Arcadia and wish to transfer to another ship, you will have to start again as ensign. (or Midshipman if you're joining the Aegis), if you're a capitan or a commander from another simming organisation, you still have to start out as a cadet.. and the same rule applies with transfers. Every new player starts out as ensign. And for your other question about bringing a ship to STSF, I'm very certain the GMs aren't accepting anymore ships, at this time.

Hey there,

Well, actually this is answered in several different areas. It's shown on the FAQ that all Captains are GMs and the information for becoming a GM can be found there. So, guess it might involve a little 2+2=4, but the answer is there.

That isn't on the FAQ because there isn't a set answer to it. Something that is handled on a case by case basis and is up to the call of the individual GM. So instead of having someone say "Well the FAQ said that I could/couldn't!!!" just didn't include it. :P

Hey there,

What, that we're not looking to add a new sim within the fleet past Columbia when it starts this Fall?

DARN YOU! Now I'll have to think of new questions.

Ehh, I give up. You win FredM. There's nothing missing from the FAQ.

That says how to become a GM. My question is could someone bring a ship from another site here, and ifso, how would it work?

Do Australian toilets really flush counterclockwise like on the Simpsons?

If you want a serious answer:

No, toilets don't really flush counterclockwise. The force that is responsible for having hurricanes and storms spin clockwise in the Northern Hemisphere and counterclockwise in the Southern Hemisphere is the Coriolis Force. The flushing of a toilet is too small to be affected by the Coriolis Force.

In all levity, however:

Yes, if it was a really really big toilet.
