If it were "Affordable" (ie the cost of a normal summer vacation or anywhere from 1000 to 2500 dollars) would you book a flight on SpaceShipOne?

In a hot minute without a single second thought! It's been a lifelong dream to see the Earth from up there.

Although I would love going into space, I would not book a flight on SpaceShipOne, even if it did cost around $1000-2000. Besides, where exactly would I go?

Maybe if the commercial space industry gets underway before I kick the bucket, and we actually have destinations, then I'll take a trip. This is coming from the guy who is going on his first plane trip on July 6th.

::Shudder:: Wish me luck.

Why the heck would I fly for 1000-2500 dollars?!?!? Who's got 2500 bucks to blow on a plane flight?

I'll stick with Continental with flights around $500 thank you.

Yeah, IF it were affordable. But you know they will NOT make it affordable for us.

Belive it or not, I belive that in 20-30 years, (I'll be 36-46) that space flights will probably be the norm. Think of it this way:

It took the Concord jet what? 3,4 hours to fly across the atlantic? (dont know if those times are right)

It takes about 90 minutes to orbit the Earth. It'd actually be a shorter flight if you went into space, and let the world turn for you. You could fly from America, to Hong Kong (to have Tea with Images) in around two hours.

I dont belive half the crap in those science books about moon resorts, and an orbiting space hotel, but I to belive that in a decade or two, that space flight will be the fastest way to fly.

Until they start shoving us into transporter booths.

$2000 for an experience like that? Heck yeah, I'd go. I might have to save up or take out a loan at interest rates that are... well, astronomical, but this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. People pay more than that for weddings (and have 3 or 4 of them).

Of course, if you work for a company that pays for company trips, you could always get them to pay for your business trip, where transportation just happens to be provided by spaceship. :P

Yeah, heck.. I'd go too.. $1000-$2500 ain't so bad, compared to the $20 000 000 pricetag, that American tourist (Tito something..) paid to go up with the Russians. But yeah.. I agree with some of you there, on where would I go? Hmm. still though.. I've always wanted go out to outerspace, might be fun. :P

So if you dont believe half...then you believe the other half. So which one do you believe? Space hotels or the moon resort?

American? I thought he was some sort of South African billionaire. But what do I know, I'm just a supraluminal particle.

Matter of fact I am flying to Chicago tomorrow on company business. Maybe I can change my flight.

Where do you end up on *any* vacation? Ultimately it's the same place you left from, right?

Hey there,

Not going to debate the issue....fact is this: If I had the money and such a thing was available, I would go in a heart beat.

You can go in a heart beat...but I'll take the plane.

Sure, why not? I love to fly!

The point is not to go anywhere, except into space..technically into space anyway  suborbital. The point is to experience leaving earths atmosphere and being a civillian astronaut  And yes, suborbital would be a substantially faster method of getting anywhere on the planet that usually requires a lengthly plane or boat or even train trip. You go up, you come back down.

And even though I could say more about the commercial potential of even just routine suborbital flights I'll stop here.

Yes, most definitely. Orange Pekoe please, and Tetley preferably (down with Red Rose!) Strange, I just call it regular tea. But apparently its real name is Orange Pekoe. Go figure.

No tea for you! Table reserved for Mr. Kroells! You come back with reservation and we talk!

Okay, I know I'm playing the Devil's Advocate, but just wait until I'm done before you toss your tea and borg dung at me.

I believe that commercial space flights are a waste of resources. In America, we complain about rising gas prices, yet we'll just go and waste them on a trip into outerspace.

That's why I'm proud to be French. (actually, I'm not, but since I'm playing Devil's Advocate, hey, why not?)

Umm...they don't use gasoline to power space crafts.

Isn't it up to commercial enterprises to decide what to spend their resources on? That's how free markets work.

Besides, the militaries already contract most of their work out to civilians.

Anyone know where I can get that reservation for tea time?

Me too!! That's why I like to jump out of planes!! There is NOTHING like the feeling of freefall.

Oooo....orbital skydiving....just like B'Elana in Voyager.......Oooo the possibilities.

Oh Huff....I'm working on that goal. Dac said she'd come as well, so the two of you, get ready to jump with me next summer!!
