Subject: An Apology

 

Dear Lieutenant Commander,

I would likely to humbly apologize for the way I acted at the ceremony last night. Though we’ve not always seen eye-to-eye I consider you a friend and what I did was unfair. You see the reason I was acting so disrespectfully, making noise, slamming down drinks and not standing to attention was because I found the event foolish. I enjoy a good party but I thought what we were doing was rather silly. We were supposedly watching the station change its command. I don’t really think it was. Meve’s still going to be on the station and I think its highly unlikely that he’s ever going to just sit there if anything important crops up. No he’ll push Ayers aside and take charge. In reality nothing’s changed.

 

Now don’t get me wrong, the Admiral is a fine chief but I just found this whole song and dance about a few personnel changes to be a bit overdone and instead of a casual get-together to celebrate the promotions we got given an event so stiff and forced it would make rigor mortis seem flexible. What happened to the Joi de vivre? So I decided to just sod it, have a few drinks and enjoy myself.

 

However, I now realize that this choice of action was at your expense. You were receiving a well-deserved promotion and I may have belittled that. I’d send a similar message to the others but I had a feeling you’d be the only one who wouldn’t bite my head off. Anyway, once again I’m sorry. I’ll take you out for drinks sometime to make up for it, my treat.
