Hey there,

Well, I wish I could say there were words to describe what I am certain is going through everyone's mind. Indeed a bad day for not only NASA or the United States, but an entire planet that's benefited from the work people who go into space do to help us all. :D

i would just like to show my depest sympathy towards the families of the 7 crew members that died this morning this is a horrible tragedy that should never have occured....... just a little insight from what i have received that the crash occured because of a cracked fuel valve within one of the shuttles 3 engines and to the ignorance and human error that occured within the NASA technical staff.... thats just what i've been told through my uncle who works for the CSA(canadian space agency) and the news. again i would like to sympathize to all those people who have suffered through this tragedy.

today was a sad day, for NASA and the US, the people at NASA pour lifetimes into reaching out into space, people trying to reach out and grasp the outer aspects of space, trying to educate people about space, planets, ect, everything around us in other words, I just hope we can bounce back from this like everything else, we now have another disaster, a lil more then a week after the aniverseries of 2 other disasters, I juss hope we come back and 'boldy go where no man has gone before'

My prayers go out to the families of the victims of today's crash.  Let us never grow desensitized of the loss of human life, especially when it's our own countrymen.  Tradgedy is a reminder of just how short our lives are on this Earth, and really should put our priorities of life into perspective.

In Him,

My best wishes and condolences go out to the friends, co-workers, and family, of the crewmembers of the shuttle Columbia.

The dream to go into space has always been present. The shows and movies that portray space travel, are a tribute to the people who work every day to make that dream become that much closer to a future reality. Astronaughts aren't always noticed, but their work speaks wonders for just how far the world has come. The loss of those yesterday was a sad loss. They were a perfect example of what some people will do to bring the future closer to the present. Playing a role playing game like Star Trek, those are the people who deserve to be recognised always. Regardless of a tragedy or not.

You all are still here. Yesterday showed just how quickly things can end. There are many reasons to do your best in the time that you have. Those on the Columbia did exactly that. Don't just morn them, but look up to them. As they were and are, excellent if not perfect examples, of what people can do in their time here. What strides the Human race is taking to progress towards the future. And who the real heros are that inspire the dreams of the simmers like us, and people like the writers and even the creator of Star Trek himself, Gene Roddenberry.

Thankful to the Columbia Crew,

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers expressed here, this is truly an important topic for Star Trek fans (remember, the first shuttle was named "Enterprise" because of the letter-writing campaign of people like us).

I recall, vividly, the numb feeling I had for days following the Challenger explosion.  Now, to have that feeling back again is terrible, horrible.  The world has lost 7 brave explorers, as we are all reminded of the fragility of life and the danger inherent in space exploration.  Words cannot express the sorrow...

We, who dream the reality of space flight in our gaming, salute those who live and die for the reality of that dream!

I would like to say that I think that just like Challenger they should go on and create another shuttle in honor of Columbia and Challenger. As a suggestion a few names that would be fitting would be: Legacy or even Gemni as an example of Columbia and Challenger being twins. If anyone has some more names you might want to post them here and then we can maybe send a letter to NASA with our feelings and some suggestions.

stupid Borg. First Contact is happening sooner.  :D

Just jocking. It was a tragedy. Accidents like this never deserve to happen. My prayers, along with millions of others around North Armerica, and the world. May they rest in peace

What should have been a historic moment for the State of Israel, and a continued testiment to American science, ingenuity and technology has, in a fraction of a second, turned into tragedy.  Our prayers are with the families of those lost.  Our hopes are that their deaths should not have been in vain.  May this tragedy help us appreciate the dangers of space flight and the bravery of those who undertake it... and may it help lead to safer journies for future crews.

Perhaps there is a way to send these messages to their families.  A friend of mine died recently and we all poured our hearts out via E-mail.  A friend of his gathered the E-mails and gave them to his church pastor who used a lot of it in his eulogy.  I doubt our little group has that kind of influence but I'm sure the families would like to read our postings.
