LoAmi

Two years ago, on a planet far, far away...

"This is outrageous. The Commission has always been against sending joined Trill out into space. " J'Kel, the chairman of the Symbiosis Commission let it all out.

Ambassador Alfa of the Diplomatic Corps was visibly shaken, but maintained his position: "It's a tragedy, but we can't hole ourselves up here forever. Already, there are many independent Trill, unjoined and joined who have taken it upon themselves to explore and trade in space. Our society is being held back by this parochialism."

"Adventurers are one thing. Official policy is another. Three joined Trill and their symbionts died for your adventurism. One of them was over a thousand years old. One thousand years of experience, lost in an instant. And now you tell me that Lo'Ami is being held ... hostage ... by these monsters?!?"

"Our contact with the Klingons far out there may have been disasterous, but, who says it would be any better when they come here of their own accord? We'll find a way to get Lo'Ami back. It's the least we can do."

"And what about next time? You couldn't even initiate peaceful contact with them. Who else will die for your mistake? Expect to see legislation shortly."

The two men continued arguing. 16 year old student intern Ilsen Gibor listened in from the next room. Precocious and prone to planning and forward-thinking, he knew what he had to do.

Yup, and it was (really) a total coincidence that it happened in 2152. Figured it couldn't hurt to bring it in here. ;-)
