Here is the funny thing...

Most of those "Fresh Salads" have as much or even more fat in them than the burgers do!

I think she means a real fresh salad. Not one of those things at MacDonalds or one covered in dressing.

While I have no interest in a diet as restrictive as Atkins, I'm not going to poopoo it either. Not only does it work to lose weight, it also lowers cholesterol, which does have some naysayers perplexed. The only negative claim I know about it is that it initially works quite well, but then tapers off in weight loss after six months or so (not sure if that's the exact time frame I heard).

Like Fred, I'm finding that lowering carbs helps to get me lean and mean, so for once I don't mind the marketing hysteria with all the low carb options. I am smart enough to weed out the fatty and/or junky crap they're pushing. (Atkins only works to lower cholesterol if you do it exactly. Therefore, since I still eat carbs, I need to avoid the nasty fats).

What I AM pleased about is seeing people trying to learn about nutirtion. For decades we bought what advertising told us with nothing to back it. Now we at least have *some* credible information hitting the mass media (which unfortunately is still our primary teacher).

I do agree that things have and will continue to go too far (low carb beer? Like real beer isn't nasty enough? lol). And it does get annoying, but I've always found b.s. marketing to be annoying anyway, so what's a little more.

Subway wraps are great. Wendys salads are good. Dunkin Donut cappucchinos are great.. oops, I digress. ;)

"Supersize Me"

LOL - that was a funny movie.

What was really funny, however, was when I saw it with my dad, we exited the theatre, we were hungry, and the theatre exit faced the McDonalds across the street. It was the only eating place on the block still open. ;)

the one problem with supersize me as a documentary is the fact that nobody would eat mcdonalds for breakst dinner and lunch for a whole month. I mean if you ate a diet of only ANYTHING for a month it would be unhealthy.

Oh no dear..you misunderstood me. When I say fresh salad .. I mean salads I make myself. Yanno, go out and buy the ingredients and build my own raw veggie masterpiece. Though I'll admit .. I have a weakness for greek dressing and feta cheese. ;P

Of course not. When you loose carbohydrates you loose roughage. No poo-poo. ;)
