SUBJECT: Size restrictions

BODY:

Gunter, current information I have about the warp engine indicates it will fit in Main Engineering without any problems, and giving 4 meters of shielding from the Chief Engineer's Office (to the right of the engine). The office is suppose to be 8x8 meters.

Does this fit current calculations for the engine specifications? Recent reports coming from your office indicate the Engine Room must be enlarged by 2 meters squared to allow the newest Starfleet engine monitor systems to be included.

If the most recent calculations are correct (and the engine room must be enlarged 2 square meters), then the CENG office will have to either be moved or made smaller. Your decision.

The area across the hall from the engine room is suitable for the CENG office, as it is a minor storage area. That can be moved into the engine room.

Sincerely,

RE: Size Restrictions

Begin transmission...

Greetings, regarding your query on the warp drive's size restrictions, we feel that we can indeed incorporate the unit into the ship when cosntruction is complete. At the moment, the unit does fall within normal specifications. However, if it is decided, we probaly will choose to move the Chief Engineer's Office to another location and/or make it smaller.

Construction of the office though is not part of my juristiction, however, but yes.. the area across the hall will be considered for use as the CENG office. While we at GE strive for quality, we shall try to model the layout of the NX-01 to best of our abilities. Every possible facet of the construction project has been taken into consideration. Thank you for your letter.

Regards,

Gunter Seiben,

Chief of Projects: Warp Propulsion

General Electric

End transmission.

Very well. Size restriction status noted (no restictions made).

We will not sacrifice the future due to size of the ship. The engineering section construction has not began yet, so minor changes to the design can be made. However, keep it reasonable.

Don't go making changes and not telling Starfleet about it. We've been friends so far, but if the design we have currently fails, we'll be looking for a new aerospace company next time.
