Tachyon

And Now You Know

Canadian and American astronomers, using telescopes all around the Earth, have observed signals from Supernova 1986-J, 30 million light-years away, that proves our theories about star-death and black holes.

Supernova 1986-J has proven that after the death and collapse of a giant star, the remnants become either a black hole or a neutron star.

Although this is completely irrelevant, I saw it in the newspaper during lunch. I'm a follower of theoretical physics, and this is very exciting news. I couldn't find the news on any other web sites, however, so if anyone has any links.

Now we just have to wait for Gravity Probe B to hit the spotlight.

And for those physicists to hurry up and prove that I exist.

That's a job for the philosophers. ;-)

By me I meant my name.

For those of you who don't know, a tachyon is a hypothetical particle that travels at speeds only exceeding that of light. It also has imaginary rest mass, possesses negative energy, and perhaps travels backwards in time. By possessing negative energy, it also gains speed when it loses energy and loses speed when it gains energy.

Thanks for the link, Smooth.

Simmers in the wild were all but extinct but seem to be making a mild resurgance, now if only we could get the simmers in captivity to breed we'd be all set.
