The Andorian government wishes to address certain events involving the sabotage and destruction of the T’Kel and the alleged Andorian device used in the explosion.

 

It has been speculated by some that the device utilized a matter/antimatter apparatus as well as the Andorian alloy known as Dextorite. While it is true that Dextorite is used in Andorian demolitions projects, both military and civilian, it hardly follows that the destruction of the T’Kel was at the hands of any Andorian national.

 

Andoria has had diplomatic and commercial relations with several Alpha Quadrant races in our history, including Klingons, Romulans, and most recently Humans. Although the Andorian government would be justified in seeking retribution for the violation of the Andorian-Vulcan peace treaty at the “sanctuary” of P’Jem, to blame every unfortunate incident using Andorian technology on us would be akin to blaming every gunshot wound on Earth on the Ancient Chinese for inventing gunpowder.

 

The people and government of Andoria deny any wrongdoing in this incident or having any knowledge that might have prevented it. We have started our own investigation of the incident. Our suspicion is that this act of sabotage was at the hands of the Romulan Star Empire who would profit from seeing the cold war between Vulcan and Andoria heat up. Indeed, our long range scans of the area immediately after the incident confirm that a small shuttlepod left the scene shortly after the explosion and headed in the direction of Romulus before engaging either their warp engines or some kind of cloaking device. We advise all governments receiving this message that this ship, whatever it's origin may be, remains at large.

 

While this is not iron clad proof of Romulan involvement we feel it is necessary to deploy our fleet in order to prevent such terrorist acts in the future. We will view any attack to be an act of war. Our hearts and minds are with the crew of the T’Kel and their families.
