Okay folks, here we go...

 

Once we have at least 15 serious entries (no coconut bras please), the GM Council will look them over and pick the top 3 or 5 that best represent us. These will be displayed on a new thread/topic for all members to vote on. The winning logo will be used on the site and possibly as advertisments elsewhere. Those votes will not be in poll form, but in individual messages. This way, we only have one vote per real person (you would not get to vote more than once, no matter how many Board names you have).

 

Some basic rules for this contest:

1. No copyrighted material (very important) - i.e., you can use the ST "swoosh," but not Paramount images or photos.

2. All unique work (please do not submit anything to us that is also being submitted to other contests).

3. It should say "STSF" and/or "Star Trek™ Simulation Forum"

4. Think in terms of a graphic that can be used as a banner or a corner icon.

5. All winning entry becomes the property of STSF.

 

Okay, I'll start out with an example. This is three different color versions of one of our older logo ideas from last year (thank you, Lightning)

Here is my entry. :) Made in Paint Shop Pro 7.02. I used the default star tube .. colored to blue. The fonts used at Alien Encounters, Trekbats and Another.

Okay there are a few ideas I had, however the program I have, Multi-Ad Creator won't let me convert any of them into image files...::grumbles::

I love the logo but I dont like the text on it. The text in the first one seems out of place and the text in the second one seems to obscure the logo.

I don't think it's that bad of a design. Might need to implore the assistance of someone with a better graphics program, but I actually like the design itself. Very original. More like an "icon" than a logo. I like. :lol:

I think they all have something unique about them. But I think Vex's sends all the messages we're trying to accomplish:

 

Our name

the fact that we sim on computers (the keys)

and it also has a Trek Logo.

 

One change would be to make the Trek logo take over the entire key...Still good

No, I like the Trek logo in one corner. Looking down on my keyboard, all of the labels take up the top left corener, except for the weird ones like Print Screen or Num Lock.

 

You might want to move it to the top left corner, but it's fine where it is.

For now, you can just copy the sign on the top of the site, paste it on your website, and add a link to it. But, it would be nice for someone to design a banner.

 

Oh, and don't worry about the insaineness of it. I have a site dedicated to pictures and clips of Scott Bakula half-naked. Me-ow!

BTW, the background/starscape thingies I'm using are from the Hubble site. They're public domain, but they've requested that NASA and or the Hubble people be mentioned somewhere, probably on the site though not necessarily the image itself. Just something to keep in mind if you're using their images :lol:
