A time to die

With a loud metallic clank, the Galaxy-Class Republic and her crew break free of the docking clamps and disembark towards the Wormhole leading to the Gamma Quadrant. And in the belly of the beast, in the Republic's auxilliary Battle Bridge, are the surviving future counterparts of the Republic's crew. Looking to undo several weeks of history.

Unbeknowst to the Republic crew on the Main Bridge, inside their ship lies the people that will change their destiny. In addition to the destinies, and future, of countless lives and the Federation itself. Succeed, and the events of the past few months wil have never occured, and hopefully everyone will forget what hapened. Fail, and well... that's that. They're off into the wild unknown. The Republic nearing closer and closer to the wormhole.

In a matter of minutes, a Ferengi vessel will appear to knock the Republic off course, and into the future of an Alternate universe, leaving a wide trail of death and destruction. Only these few intrepid souls in the Battle Bridge, have the ability to prevent it. The courses have been laid in and the torpedos have been armed. It's the last minute to play in regulation time, and the Republic needs a breakaway to score that goal and take the win.

It all comes to these next few minutes. With German focus, and precision Seiben plots in the course to the wormhole and keeps his eyes out for the Ferengi ship charging towards them. Weapons are placed on stand-by as he slaves tactical to the helm console, knowing these next tense moments to come will require his full concentration.

Two - three torpedoes is all it would take. These brave souls, sacrificing their lives, so their alternate self and the Federation will live on for years to come in peace. Oh yes, Seiben knows full well that if successful, they-- being the future version of the Republic crew will cease to be. The wormhole gets bigger and bigger on the viewscreen, and soon they are within range. Seiben sighs deeply. This is his time to die, it's his destiny. Along with everyone in this Battle Bridge.

As the old Earth song goes... to everything.. turn, turn, turn. There's a time for everything in life, as inevitable as the turning of the tides. But once they succeed, Seiben can die well knowing that a part of himself and the lives of so many people future and present will live on healthy and free. And that, to Seiben, is an honour far beter than life itself.

Turn! Turn! Turn!

By: The Byrds (1966)

To Everything (Turn, Turn, Turn)

There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn)

And a time for every purpose, under Heaven

A time to be born, a time to die

A time to plant, a time to reap

A time to kill, a time to heal

A time to laugh, a time to weep

To Everything (Turn, Turn, Turn)

There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn)

And a time for every purpose, under Heaven

A time to build up,a time to break down

A time to dance, a time to mourn

A time to cast away stones, a time to gather stones together

To Everything (Turn, Turn, Turn)

There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn)

And a time for every purpose, under Heaven

A time of love, a time of hate

A time of war, a time of peace

A time you may embrace, a time to refrain from embracing

To Everything (Turn, Turn, Turn)

There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn)

And a time for every purpose, under Heaven

A time to gain, a time to lose

A time to rend, a time to sew

A time to love, a time to hate

A time for peace, I swear it's not too late!
