"John Drone"

PERSONAL LOG

Lt. Koshic N’Dak, Ph.D.

USS Arcadia

Stardate 0405.24

>Begin Log<

The stench of the Borg cube filled Koshic’s nostrils. He had never had any field experience with the Borg, but had studied them before at length and had even taught an academy class on them, “Borg Social Structure,” but none of that had adequately prepared him for what he was doing now, scavenging an abandoned cube.

It was a scientist’s chance of a life time, and he was glad that this time he didn’t have to miss out on it. However despite his giddiness about exploring the cube, he knew something wasn’t quite right here either, and that bothered him. He was beginning to feel anxious again, he couldn’t ‘feel’ anyone around him still, which on top of being on a sitting assimilation bomb was beginning to the get the better of him.

He looked around at the others who were busy with something else, he was meanwhile taking a look at the ‘history’ of ‘John Drone’ downloading it into his tricorder, might as well do some research

while he was here.

Dissecting the dead Drone had not been unpleasant for him, he had dissected several drones before in addition to many other cadavers while teaching at the Academy, but now that the deed was done and he looked over the dead body, the whole thing seemed rather indignant to Koshic, after all at one time this had been a living breathing—Antican, but know it was just a drone. It bothered him that not only his fellow crew, but he himself had only viewed it as a drone, like he was some sort of specimen. But his concerns would have to wait—he had work to do.

He arched his eyebrow a bit; it was unusual for the Borg to leave a dead body--at was very uncharacteristic. In addition, it wasn’t normal for them to leave a functional cube abandoned. Something was very strange here. He read the log of the dead Borg to see if there was any indication of what had happened, but that was in vain. He found nothing out of the ordinary; nothing that would indicate why the Cube had been abandoned.

As he looked over the information again, he felt a sharp tingle up his spine, familiar but unexpected he jumped a bit. It had been a while since he had felt that tingle. Only when he was scared did it come to him, ever since he was a little boy, when ever he was frightened or afraid it would come to him. It was like a sixth sense. Something was a foul here, he knew it, but there was nothing he could do about it, just hope and pray that they would be out of danger before something terrible happened.
