STSF Precip

3.25

Personal Log

LtCmdr Mitar Precip

CSEC USS Manticore

"3.25"

"3.25 miles" Precip muttered as he continued his climb back up the chasma.

15,000 feet up plus. And that didn't include the extra manuevering to find a decent surface to ascend on. Mitar couldn't even see the halfway ledge the AT had used earlier to rest on. This was without a doubt the most physical challenge Precip had faced while serving on the Manticore, and now if the the sheer height to be scaled wasn't enough...time was working against him as well.

Precip knew something was wrong when Captain Sovak failed to respond to one of his status reports. Precip was ordered to ascend the chasma to install a communications buoy network, to try to get a Comlink established with Manticore. Now, Commander Farrington was answering the calls from the AT at the bottom of the chasma, and Dr. Mele and Lt McFly had rapidly decended Past Precip to render aid. These were not good signs, not at all. Had Sovak been injured by a cave in or something? Worse could it of been that mysterious object defending itself against an incursion by the awayteam. There was also the strange order from Commander Farrington to decactivate the buoy-link that Precip had began 1,500 feet below.

The menal specualtion wasn't helping Precip has he struggled to find the next place to install an inactive com relay, yet he couldn't help it. As chief of security shouldn't he be the one down there leading the defense of the awayteam? Shouldn't he of teamed up with Sovak as the first team down ..instead of being the third? What was Manicore doing about this?

A traction slip..and a three foot slide down...stopped the questions pounding Precip's head. The Anchor line set by Captain Sovak...saved Precip's life from a 3/4 mile drop to the bottom.

"3.25 plus" Mitar looked at his altimeter. He'd focus on the climb now, and hope that his concentration wouldn't slip again. He had a long way to go upward.

End log.
