"Cave of Guilt"

Do not faulter to emotion, do not dwell on the past and most definitely do not blame your self. Words and wisedom of Toval. Tovan thought, standing in the mouth of the cave after an event had occured, holding a portion of Sovak's EVA suit. He glanced at the cave.

What happened down there? He thought. The last he knew prior to the massive energy burst was Sovak's helmet lighting, once he flipped it on, this happened and knocked him to ground. Tovan pondered again, not heeding the advices his father once taught him.

Tovan stood, looking back at the cave as he and the rest of the Away team pulled The Captain safely out of the cave, lights were dimmed to prevent another energy burst. Though the cave seemed friendly it still had a weapon against the team, the living evidence was right in their hands. Tovan looked down at Sovak.

Could this be really happening? Is Sovak really in a coma? How did it happen in the first place? More questions flown through his active memory and in to the subconscious. Curiousity soon turned to guilt but Tovan fought it.

I checked everything, the life support, the environmental systems and power supply and nothing was in error but this has happened. He said to himself. Surely this was not an isolated event and couldn't possibly affected exclusively to Vulcans. But then why was he the only one to be knocked down?

Tovan stared at the unconscious vulcan, wondering what Sovak is seeing or imaging, wondering if he would ever wake up. Tovan reassured him self with positive thoughts. But was it enough to stop him from blaming himself? He did not thought of it. It was a new mystery now, another mystery that surrounds the secrets of this Chasm. He thought, burying deep the guilt.

He took a glimpse upwards, and saw the height and deptness of his situation, the color of the red rocks around him and upbove him and beneath him made stain in his mind. Cave of guilt, he thought.

He pondered the future in a few hours or minutes they would be ascending, back up, away from the guilt he felt in the cave. Ascending back to the ship, their home, and perhaps thaw The Captain from his current iced self. And they would be a report, would The Admiral be happy to hear this incident?

That's it, good thoughts, the mystery will be solved. He thought.
